Siempre me he sentido cómoda allí.

Some nights you just want beer, chocolate, and churros--DO NOT JUDGE ME.
We lost a day of our trip and had to do all of Barcelona in ONE FREAKING DAY. It can be done but you hit the ground at 9 a.m., jet-lag be damned, and you do not stop until Barcelona does. BTW, Barcelona stops at about 5 a.m. the next day. Close to midnight, you need a snack.
Meson del Cafe delivers with cold Spanish beer, cups of thick hot chocolate (not Swiss Miss), and warm churros covered with sugar and cinnamon. I cannot speak to the dinner menu, but I was damn happy with my order.
Service was fantastic. They were busy and they were still gracious, like I was a guest in their home. And the location is perfect, smack dab in the middle of the Gothic District. Place is super cozy and very pretty. We relaxed and enjoyed an hour break and then jumped back into the nightlife!

This was one of the first places we stopped to eat at while we were in Barcelona. We had a beer and chorizo bocadillo. It was absolutely delicious! The bread was perfect, nice crunch on the outside and soft inside. The chorizo was nothing like we've had here in the USA, full of flavor and the right amount to hold us over until our next stop. We followed our meal and drinks up with some coffee, small but powerful! I believe we paid less than ten euros for everything.
It's a small place, been there for decades and exactly what we were looking for. We were trying to avoid the tourist places and stick to the local authentic spots.

Can't beat 2 delicious bocadillo's (Spanish panini type sandwich), two beers, and a nice coffee for less than 10 euros! We had the Spanish chorizo bocadillo. We're used to the Mexican chorizo, this was more like a chorizo flavored pepperoni or something. Delicious!

Yummy churros and chocolate. But definitely recommend the mojitos and the sangria- delicious!!! The gentleman behind the bar is so gracious. Perfect stop while touring Barcelona - and they have a bathroom :).

Good place to stop by for a drink and small plate snacks. Man behind the bar was gracious with service...ask for the specials and try the sautéed spinach if available, was very good with the heavier sauced items.

Currently my favorite Tapas bar anywhere. Simple, small, no menus and no english tourist signage. Great ambiance and near everything. Avoid the tourist junk - come to this restaurant. Extremely friendly staff. However this is not the place to go of you expect english, menus and a rushed experience. Cheap with gorgeous foods and great coffee.
I have eaten here many times over the past few months and can't reconcile a review saying it was a tourist trap. I can't help but wonder if somewhere else was being refered to. It's full of locals and doesn't really cater to the tourist market unlike almost everything in the area.
Idyllic.

I felt this food, atmosphere and drink was great. There was an older man who was working who i saw photos of on the wall, so i know hes a staple of this place, that spoke or pretended to speak enough english to get you to what youre interested in.

This is one of my favorite cafes in Barcelona!! This is supposed to be one of the oldest cafes in Barri Gotic and you can feel the history the moment you step in. You feel like you were transported back in time! The decor is the most charming part of this place. I usually come here for my cafe con leche and xocolata amb xurros (2.90 euros), they are made just the way I like!!!! Rico rico!!! Check it out when you are in Barcelona!
p.s. - they are closed on Sundays. The place is tiny so not recommended for a big group.

We loved everything about Meson Del Cafe--the ambiance, delicious food and experiencing a locals' tapas bar, was really fun. We found Meson our second day in Barcelona and made sure to find it again our last day! Things we tried and liked were the tomato, cucumber, octopus salad, calamari, paella, and of course, the fantastic Sangria, but it was all good. If you are up for some tasty, fun food and a authentic tapas bar atmosphere, stop in and relax. We had no problem communicating with the staff.

Tourist Trap! Stay away from the restaurant!
The place looks nice and tempting to enter, but that's it.
There is no menu or price for anything, just several pre-prepared dishes to choose from, the waiter simply says to choose what you want without getting a price.
We took a few dishes, that served in small plates with very little food, but in the end there is a big surprise! The price was not less than a good meal at a good restaurant.
Just avoid this restaurant and go somewhere else!

Very small place with lots of history the family that runs the place is great very warm people and if you come more than once they start treating you like their family the food is very good there is not a real menu pretty much what you see is what you get and if you want anything special just ask for it and then we'll make it happen highly recommended place in Barcelona I will definitely go back again

Avoid! Overpriced gross food, no prices, unfriendly staff. "Tapas" are mostly fried items, microwaved when you choose them, subsequently soggy and inedible. Drank our wine, picked at the food and left, out of €30 (2 wines and 3 tapas). We have had amazing tapas here, luckily this was just an unlucky choice.

Tourist trap. The food is not bad but not worth it for the price. Bacalao was 14 euro, but I only found out after the fact. Avoid.

Ducked in here to warm up and get out of the rain. Coffee latte with cacao was delicious! I will be stopping here again before the end of our trip. Met 2 of the 3 generations of owners, super nice, inviting and friendly. Thank you for making our first stop in Barcelona an unforgettable one!

Quaint decor and friendly staff make this an excellent spot for some caffeinated refreshment. This cafe was essentially across the street from our hotel so we were here quite a few times in the AM. Coffee was very solid, and the pastries were good to boot. Pretty inexpensive as well.

Fantasico! Great hole in the wall cafe near Cathedral de Barcelona. Very small and cozy, great tapas y cafe!
Alan W.
To be honest, these people were rude and their coffee didn't make up for it. Take your business across the street to Pastelería Santa Clara.
Rick A.
Excellent coffee as always in Europe. This old place was recommended in tourist book and did not let us down. Two cafe Americanos and croissants please.
Daniel J.
The lady behind the bar was coughing on the food and shouting on the phone. €2.5 for a small bottle of beer and €4.5 for a portion of omelette. A total rip-off.
