We ate in this restaurant a couple of days ago while in Barcelona, it was recommended by the concierge of our hotel and it was a pleasant surprise. First the place is small and cute, with a great atmosphere, and that allows a really personal service and connection with the staff and the owner.
The food is fresh , delicious, modern and creative, which was a refreshing change after a few days of heavy local cuisine.
Everything was EXCELLENT, i LOVED the goat cheese and the scallops. I had lam
and I must say that I have rarely ate such a juicy and tender rack of lam, the only thing I regretted was that I forgot to say thank you to the chef itself !
A few reviewers mentioned the portions n=being small, but when one serves scallops, you don't serve more than 3 or 4 pieces per plate, and that was plenty as in some restaurants scallops can come served per 2 or even one. The portions for me were perfect, i was full , even really full after a 3 course meal, I could barely finish my delicious Creme Catalan. This restaurant should get a michelin star.
We will definitely return when back in Barcelona.

The food is spectacular; one of the best places I’ve eaten. The restaurant is cosy. And the staff are awesome. This is a must do place in Barcelona.

My wife and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in Barcelona and enjoyed a wonderful supper at Pau Claris 190. The food, service, and atmosphere were perfect for our special night. To top it off, they surprised us with a very special and delicious dessert.

We are here in Barcelona celebrating our 50th Anniversary and discovered Restaurante Paul Cloris 190 across from our hotel. It was so extraordinary the first night, we returned the second night! Welcoming Elizabeth and the wonderful innovating food of Raphael! Highly recommend this restaurant!

The food is amazing, and the owners are the best. Small place that sits a total of 22 so call ahead for reservation. My wife had the duck, and I had the lamb chops. On a scale of 1 to 10 would give these dishes 9.5 they where that good. If your tired of the tapas, and want to have a nice meal than this is the place.

A fabulous night, excellent food and fabulous hosts in Raphael and Lizbeth. A tiny restaurant with huge character that delivered to our expectations. We are in the restaurant business ourselves and can be critical but on this occasion can only say a big Muy Bien, Gracias.
Barbara Hornsby Mcmahon
German born chef is a master with local ingredients. Try the rack of lamb or the duck breast. His cuisine features a lot of fruit in the sauces.

Absolutely lovely experience from the minute you walk through the door. The owners really give it the personal touch and the food is amazing. An absolute must if travelling to Barcelona. Thank you

Can’t even find the words to explain how delicious the tenderloin was. It’s an elegant restaurant with professional and friendly staff. Wanna go back to Barcelona and dine at Pau Claris 190 again!

The most amazing restaurant in the world. Travel at least twice a year to eat here and spend time with the gorgeous Lizbeth and Rafael, nothing less than magnificent x

Killer entrees and best dessert ever.
I believe the dessert's name is Mutti tart. I can't think of a better dessert. Light while extremely flavorful and a lot of texture. Memorable.
The fish and lamb are both delicious.
The soup is excellent. The goat cheese appetizer is good but I wouldn't go for that one again.
The smoked goose is surprisingly really good.
Great romantic atmosphere.

We had a wonderful dinner tonight! Excellent service, deliciously flavored food, nice atmosphere. We started with olives and bread smeared with fresh tomato juice. Then we advanced to main selections (see pictures) that were beautifully prepared and presented. My husband had a local beer and then we had dessert of a brownie with ice cream. We left full and satisfied. This is about as elegant as we go and we were very glad for the experience. Beautiful meal we'll remember with fondness from our Barcelona experience.

Great, final dinner in Barcelona and right across from our hotel. The pork tenderloin, duck, tofu and fish meals were all carefully prepared and uniquely prepared than other chefs. Each item was done to a very satisfying result.
The portions are not huge but that allowed us to share the lemon sorbet and chocolate cake. The former is fantastic!! The lychee sorbet with the lemon was delicious and worth having again.

This place was hands down amazing! It's intimate and delicious. The owner was so involved and caring it made the experience top notch. I would come every week if I lived here. Great place, it's a must try for anyone in town.

This restaurant is beautiful, modern (while still being rustic) , and romantic.
The food is INCREDIBLE, while visiting Barcelona we wanted something authentic, flavorful, but different then what most restaurants will offer you (they still offer some of the traditional favorites such as pane con tomato, except they offer a much higher end olive oil to top it with).
The owners were both at the restaurant and you can see how they truly care for you to enjoy your experience and every single bite. Well definitely be back again when visiting.

p.s. The beef tenderloin was perfect!

What a joke. Read all of this one...
Reservation for 9:30, seated at 9:45. Ok, it happens. One server/bus, one very clearly stressed waitress.
Full house of 20-24 people and it sounds like 100 people chattering in Carnegie Hall. Ok, it's Friday.
Next to me, a party of 8, their faces redder than the wine they're drinking. All while making sure their goofy drug stories are heard. Hey, some people are like that.
We were already late so we ordered 2 starters (tomato bread and olives) and 2 entrees (wagyu sausage and duck breast) at the same time for convenience sake. Personally, I felt it was a little thoughtful.
About 25 minutes later, we got our bread. A few minutes after that, we got our olives. Some 45 minutes in, we got our wagyu sausage, which was pretty darn good.
Then it got weird.
We waited about 25 more minutes for the duck. When we did finally ask, both about the duck and gap between entrees, we were told that it was resting and we were wrong to ask any questions.
Pardon? Not my first dance at a fancy jam and I do understand the snazzy way of things (if either asked for or having it said up front). You do not quote some goofy service manual as an excuse to not have proper staff, let alone staff with a good attitude.
If I wasn't watching a chubby little finger stirring a glass of scotch the whole time, I'd have thought less of it all.
As soon as the princes...err waitress was done making excuses for the chef (her dad or husband?), I let the duck rest even longer by asking for the check and leaving.
Here's the hoot, we had to use TheFork to book the reservation; so the restaurant made sure they "canceled" our reservation (after we had left) to avoid a review on that app. See the pics attached of my almost meal as well as their text canceling afterward. He cancelled the reservation we had at 9:30 pm via a text at 11:12 pm... lol!
Scumbag moves all around. Hire more staff, the guy can obviously cook.

What a way to begin the Barcelona experience with my family. Absolutely superb. All 4 meals were fantastic. The staff was so friendly and attentive from the owner chef and his wife who welcomed us from the moment we arrived.
Can't single out a specific favourite as all 4 meals were as close to a 10 as you would want.
Don't miss this little gem, you'll regret it.
Cheers
Can't wait to see you again on our next visit.

My daughter and I were celebrating our mother /daughter trip to Barcelona for my daughter's graduation 1 year ago. I read fabulous reviews of this restaurant . We were so lucky to get a reservation since the seating is very limited. Our meal was by far the best meal we have shared this year. The pate foie gras melted in our mouths. The entrees were remarkable. The chef took such great attention to taste and presentation. My daughter ordered the lobster risotto and I ordered the duck. All were mouth watering dishes. The ultimate dessert was a fried pistachio ice cream. Don't miss this restaurant when you are in Barcelona

This restaurant came highly recommend by a friend, and it certainly exceeded expectations.
Grab a table upstairs for a quiet date night or sit outside and people watch. The food is fresh, and the flavors are impeccable. We ordered the jamón iberico, cheese plate, duck breast and lobster paella.
Our meal would have been 10/10 if we had stopped there, but we indulged in the best cheesecake of our lives. The host recommended the Tarta Mutti, and it is a must!
Kristine K.
Food quality and service were excellent. Chef Rafael's talents and creativity are unique and his dishes are nothing short of amazing. He uses all local ingredients and creates a gastronomic experience in its true, indigenous fashion. The balance of flavors, complexity and yet very simple, but very effective presentation are a testament to a "must visit" place when in Barcelona.
Service was equally delightful, discreet, yet perfectly timed and personalized. Highly recommended to all travelers who are looking to enjoy a legitimate experience in a wonderful setting.

While in Barcelona earlier this month, we had dinner at Pau Claris 190. We had a reservation, but the restaurant was running behind so they graciously offered us two complimentary glasses of cava to enjoy outside. A very welcome surprise.
We started with the Potato wedges with special sauces and the Mixed salad with mango reduction & vinaigrette. The potato wedges were more like boiled potatoes with two sauces - it was okay - but nothing special. The mixed salad was very tasty - especially with the vinaigrette. For entrees, we had the Tiger prawns with cayenne pepper / caramelized onions and cherry tomatoes as well as the ever popular Pork secret Iberian with chocolate and passion fruit sauce. My husband really enjoyed the prawns, and thought the accompaniments really complimented the dish. The pork dish was absolutely delicious! I've found before that pork gets dry, but this pork was extremely moist and the two sauces (though not something you would usually pair with pork) were outstanding with the entrée.
For dessert we had the Banofie - which is a mixture of bananas, pie crust and chocolate - like a mousse. It was very light and refreshing.
The restaurant is quite small - seating around 30 people so I definitely recommend reservations. I think the food was very unique and I would recommend the restaurant to others. The combination of different ingredients really made them stand out in my book. I also think the staff was very good and attentive to all our needs.

Starter: Grilled foie gras with purée of figs and flambéed pears 17€
Main Course: Wild fish from the coast of Catalonia with garnish by chefs inspiration 32€
Dessert: crema catalana 5.50€
Glass of cava: Josep M Ferret Guash Brut Nature Reserva 2009 4.50€
Glass of white wine: Alborada Vedejo 3.50€
While I was eating the Foie Gras I couldn't help but be reminded of a whole wheat pancake that has been covered with maple syrup but is also flavored by the bacon juices it was next to. Tasty but I wouldn't pay the 17 euro price tag more than once.
I didn't recognize the fish name but it was a white light fish didn't have fishy taste. Vegetables were cooked to perfection. Warm but verging on being undercooked in the best way possible. The natural flavors were unmasked and one could taste the quality of the fresh produce.
Cava was good. Not too dry or sweet. Alborada was sweet (fruity like mango) but not overwhelmingly so, without the tartness some white wines can also have.
The crema catalana taste reminded me of pumpkin pie - spicy and earthy but with the crunch of creme brûlée.
66 euros in total and I felt very happy to pay that price. Great ambiance and the waitress Lisbeth speaks English well and was very friendly. She managed to wait on the entire restaurant alone which seemed typical.
I'd highly recommend this restaurant to any of my friends/ family who visit in the future.
That said: moderate expectations... Portions are smaller than what most Americans are used to being served when eating out but I've found this typical in European restaurants and a much healthier portion size.
This isn't a secret restaurant know only to native Barcelonés. Other diners were also tourists but it doesn't detract from the dining experience. (One shouldn't visit Barcelona if you don't want to be surrounded by other tourists.)
Alex C.
We had reservations but our table was not ready, we were left standing in the corner for 10 minutes. We should have left then. The place only had about 25 seats, but both servers were running around, surly and overwhelmed. The noise level was deafening. The food we did receive was delicious, but the few bites didn't make up for the discomforts. We waited 45 minutes after eating our olives and tomato bread and sausages, and then gave up on our mains, asking for our check. The server lectured me on slow food, trying to tell me that it was my mistake, but also their food concept? She was rude and condescending... the ambiance was terrible, the food okay, the wait unbearable, and the treatment was less than human. I would not suggest this restaurant to anyone, no matter what.
Collin B.
A small, airy restaurant, a rustic home feel, not too casual but very comfortable. The food was lovely, preparation and presentation just right. I had the duck, the flavors were complex and it was cooked perfectly. The proprietors were lovely, warm, attentive but not intrusive. A side note, the bread is gluten free, an unexpected bonus for some of us, and the best of the kind I have ever had; you would not know if you were not told. It was an impromptu choice the first night of a week of extraordinary meals. Others were "events", but this one was our consensus favorite.
Michael S.
Do yourself a favor...dine at this restaurant. My wife and I really enjoyed ourselves. While there are a lot of great restaurants and cuisine in Barcelona, this is the only we are writing a review for. The food was decadent and inspired. What makes this place stand apart from the rest is the wife & husband owners make you feel so special. They left their hearts on the plate. This was by far our best dining experience in Barcelona. Strongly recommend...enjoy!
Manny G.
Let me put it this way...I don't typically write restaurant reviews because I find them so subjective. However, I felt myself compelled to for Pau Claris 190. The small, quaint restaurant delivers in terms of charm, quality and service. Chef Rafael and Lizbeth will have you at "Hello" or "hola."
I'm a skeptical New Yorker, but trust me when I say this place is worth a visit. Oh, and if you're wondering what to order with your coffee, the answers is simple...the Tarta Mutti is amazing and based on chef Rafael's grandma's recipe. Wonderful little restaurant.

My husband and I are 'foodies' so we usually make reservations months in advance to
ensure the best food experience wherever we go.
While in Barcelona a good friend who knows how seriously we take the food part of our trip recommended this restaurant. Wow, what an unplanned gem!!
Everything about the restaurant was perfect.
It is very small and cozy, the food is delicious and
beautifully presented and the service was impeccable.
We believe it should have a Michelin star or two!
It certainly merits it!
