Songbyrd Music House

I really enjoyed my experience at Songbyrd. I'm disabled and standing for long periods of time at concerts can be extremely painful. One of the employees set up a chair for me in the front row when the doors were opened. All the staff I interacted with were very kind and helpful. Would definitely visit again.

Songbyrd is an extraordinarily intimate venue. With a 200-person capacity, so no matter where you stand, you are guaranteed to be within 30 feet of the performers. I will include a photo of my view from the back of the venue by the bar for reference. Located in NoMA just behind Union Market, the venue is easily metro-accessible and only 10 minutes from the metro. Security was patient and chill. I have been to other venues where security is intense, but Songbyrd security was friendly. The bartenders were super nice and poured some potent drinks, which I can't get mad at. For DC priced beverages, they were worth it. Warning: They do not take AMEX, bring another card. I have only 2 complaints about the venue. 1) Their contact information (email and phone) is useless. They do not answer emails or phone calls. So don't expect to get any help through those communications. I sent an email and called twice during operating hours and never got a pickup or response. 2) While the venue is relatively accessible, they do not publish anything on their website about accessibility. A section on resources for people with disabilities would be immensely helpful. I have mobility issues and couldn't find any official resources for assistance. Some third-party websites have some information. For those wondering, the venue is wheelchair accessible and there is some seating (high-top) at the bar and outside the venue out front. My final minor complaint is that I would appreciate if the FAQ on bags would address if clear see through backpacks are allowed. All that to say, other than the poor communication and the lack of information around accessibility, I loved the venue and would love to attend other concerts here.

I had the pleasure of experiencing SoNGByRD by attending an Opengem Event, @opengemusa on IG. The venue doesn't accept cash. The facility was extremely clean, and the staff was very courteous and helpful. The vibe was nice, and they truly supported local artists and the community. I highly suggest you visit this gem.
