It's a vibe.... Had the pleasure of visiting DC from the Va Beach area and went to this tea room on 02/25/23.  I did a little research online and saw the variety of teas so I was eager to go and I'm glad that I did.  The atmosphere is warm, staff (herbalists) are friendly and knowledgeable.  The owner, Dr. Sunyatta, was extremely welcoming and personable; she even greeted many customers by name which made the visit that much more pleasurable.  I purchased the Triple Goddess and OcTEAvia but also experienced a hot cup of tea (made for me personally by Sunyatta) and had a sample of vegan sweet potato pie- both were amazing!  This is more than your ordinary tea room/tea shop...this is culture, community, friends/family, relaxation, a place to unwind, grab a small bite or a soothing drink.  If you're wondering if you should go...YEP you should or check out their products online. I will definitely be visiting again when in the area.

Forgot to write my review.😯 I finally got a chance to visit the infamous Calabash Tea and meet the beloved Sunyatta Amen. She was amazingly helpful.🥰 It was a long trip, but worth it! It took me a while to rest because of the long trip, but the atmosphere was so relaxing that I dozed off a couple of times while getting myself together. When I finally did get things together, I wanted some of everything. I bought all of the teas that I wanted to try that were discussed in Knubia. I also ordered the vegan BLT sandwich that was really good. I wanted to eat another one, but I knew that I would fall asleep if I did.😄 The Jamaican ginger sorrel was very refreshing. One thing that needed to be made clear was that I was going to be charged for the shots that I thought were samples; my tab was way more than I expected it to be because of that. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and looking forward to my next visit one day. I wish that it was closer to me so that I could visit more often.

At Calabash Tea & Tonic each customer is given a warm reception. Recommendations for both food and beverage are expertly offered upon request based upon what you seek. Many customers purchased products for personal use as well as as gifts during my late December 2022 visit. This warm and inviting spot is a favored gathering location for locals to sip, chill, eat and relax and accommodates group gatherings as well.

Unique neighborhood tea shop with so much more to offer. I had a delicious Matcha Maca and a Spinach pastry (so good, just the right amount of heat). Loved the variety of bagged teas and accessories. Can’t wait to try more. Nice seating area outside.

Calabash is the best! When you come to Calabash, the team will ask you how you’re feeling to help direct you to a healing drink. They also have TONS of goodies to purchase for use at home, too. Their outdoor patio is a perfect way to spend an afternoon.

When I called to ask if they were open, the owner immediately replied, “Fall through, boo!” And I knew in that moment, I was headed to the right place. From pulling up, to ordering, to sitting in the healing garden, and being accommodated thoroughly, the entire experience was aligned and appreciated. I ordered the BLT (per usual because it’s bomb), the Last Good Nerve Lemonade, An Apple Pie scoop, and a Triple Goddess Lemonade. This meal was everything I needed!! I’m 8 months pregnant, and everyone between the guests and staff, went OUT OF THEIR WAY to make sure I was beyond comfortable. I will always be grateful for that. Calabash Tea and Tonic is one for the books! Don’t meet me there, beat me there because it’s that great.

This teahouse is nothing short of amazing!!! One of my favorite places in DC! The owner is sweet, knowledgeable, and passionate about wellness, the staff is warm and gracious, and the overall vibe of the place is rich and inviting. All of the teas are hugs in a cup, and the food is delicious (especially the vegan BLT and coconut curry soup)! Try their freshly baked breads with your tea!

Attended a waist bead pop up shop here awhile back. Really love the intimate atmosphere. People from all walks of like (it seemed) congregate for good conversation, great tea and pretty good food. Vegetarian options available...some vegan options as well. Many different varieties of tea. Be prepared. If you don’t know what you want, they will do an “assessment” of sorts. Ask you what you’re thinking about or experiencing. This helps them design the best beverage for you. 😊 My only issue. Parking. But the Shaw metro is right down the street.

Great place to come lounge and relax. Living room ambiance with vegan/organic food & tea selection. I've been here twice & both times had a great experience. Soki was knowledgeable of the menu & knows what to serve you upon what mood you feel & want to feel. The Sammy BLT is one of the best sandwiches I had in a long time, I wished it would never end! Definitely one of my new go to places.
