Boba Loca

Recently my coworkers have been coming back from their breaks with Boba drinks, and I’m always asking them the who, the what, and most importantly, the where. I finally found out that they got them from Boba Loca, which is right down the street from our job. So today was the day I finally decided to check them out and see what they’re all about. Boba Loca is located in a little shopping plaza right on aviation in Manhattan Beach, and there’s plenty of parking which is always a plus. When I entered, I, unfortunately, wasn't greeted, which kind of sucked considering they weren't busy. I ordered my drink which was a Thai iced tea with Boba. I got two large ones, one for myself and my hubby. Once I ordered, I didn’t have to wait long, which is always great. During my very minimal wait, I looked around and checked out their little space. In addition to drinks, they have snacks available and pastries. They have a seating area, and it seems like they have board games available to play with. When it was time to punch my straw in, I immediately took a sip. The Thai tea was delicious, and exactly how it should taste, my only issue was the Boba itself. The Boba was stuck together, which I didn’t like, and it just wasn't the freshest. Boba really makes a Boba drink a Boba drink. It seemed like a really cool place to hang out with friends and grab a drink or snack and play some games. I will definitely check them out again, and hopefully, they'll have a good batch of boba!

This is not the best tasting coffee spot. I had an espresso, and it was not very good. The baked goods are not that great either, but they don't make them do it is not their fault. The service was good. The inside was a little dark. It seems to be a nice place for the regulars that stop by for the sheer convenience of the place.

Almost 5 stars dragged me over to Manhattan beach to try this spot. Sadly my expectations were met with realism. This is a fine coffee shop. It has all the amenities and patash to round out this upper middle class neighborhood. The good... Its got a chill atmosphere and a lively group of regulars. The bad... The Tea's are a bit on the sweet side, which by no means is a deal breaker but the Java offerings leave me wanting. With power house roasters within arms reach you would think these spots would partner up and feature those blends but no. They offer mediocre but hot joe. Internet is mediocre as well. The Service was fast and friendly. So not a bust but not 4.8 stars. Sorry no 2nds

Regular taro milk tea doesn’t have caffeine and comes with boba. I think it’s made with powder but still tastes good. The boba was soft and chewy. My drink wasn’t super cold, so that was nice so the boba pearls didn’t get rock hard. The drink was the right amount of sweetness without being overwhelmingly cloying.
