Bernardi's Restaurant

Just ate at Bernardi's in Washington, Illinois. Was prime rib night. I had to look around the room to make sure I wasn't at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. NEVER HAD BETTER PRIME RIB! Sides were excellent also. This place is great for Washington. Great atmosphere, excellent food and being around good people. Every pennie of $29.95 was worth it. Stop by and try THE BEST EATERY IN CENTRAL ILLINOIS. You will LOVE it!

Ordered Buffalo wings, tortellini, chicken gizzards. They gave me chicken livers instead of the gizzards and batter was sooo salty could barely eat them. The Buffalo sauce was also extremely salty. The tortellini was rubbery and lacked flavor, thank goodness for meat sauce. Extremely disappointed as I order from them about once a month. They a bit pricey especially when they food isn’t up to par.

I brought my parents and children for a nice meal. I like the ambiance. Dim lighting, nice bar, bit old school Italian restaurant feel. We started with some apps toasted Ravoli and Onion rings. Both were pretty good. However from there everything else was less than spectacular. The wait staff did not appear to be very organized. I had to walk to the bar numerous times to get refills. It took nearly an hour for our food to arrive at our table even though the restaurant was not crazy busy. The waiter suggested asparagus, then came back before the food came out to let us know they didn't have any. My mother ordered the special for the night (a salmon dish), it took them nearly 20 minutes longer for her to get her food than the rest of the table (the waiter blamed the kitchen for missing it I know as a former server that is usually not the case). I got the top sirloin with tortellini. The steak was cooked as desired but there was not a lot of flavor (I had to add salt which I do not normally do). Their meat sauce has a salty flavor, I prefer a sweeter fresher tasting sauce. That being said maybe we just got them on an off night. I have been before pre-covid and it was very good; this time not so much. Probably a 2 star experience this time around but I gave it 3 because of my past experience. Not sure I will go back.
