Athena Grill

I normally wouldn’t post or comment on my experience eating somewhere unless there was a legitimate issue. I ordered my food and after I had done so I read more recent reviews criticizing how the food quality has decreased over the years and how for what your paying it is not worth. Regardless of all of that I figure I’d still give the place a chance since they have kebabs and could be a new local spot I order from consistently. Unfortunately while eating my meal I discovered a long piece of hair. Even if I did not find the hair in my meal, I’d still give this place 2/3 stars if that. Just walking into the restaurant you can tell it doesn’t appear clean and smelled poorly. Also more so it’s a Greek restaurant and coming from a Mediterranean background and eating at other similar type places you can tell the menu doesn’t make much sense since they have items like pork skewers, shrimp, and spinach dip. Long story short there were a bunch of red flags prior to getting my food that I ignored since I’d figure I give them the benefit of doubt. It’s one thing if the chickens dry, the menu doesn’t make sense and the pricing is on the higher end. The fact that their was hair in my meal and the place smelled poorly once you walk is really the disrespectful part and not acceptable at all. I won’t be eating from here ever again. Oh and it was obviously it wasn’t my hair since I have short hair and the hair was found closer at the bottom of my meal so you can imagine my frustration once noticing it.

So my girlfriend and I have both ordered for pick up and delivery several times. The last handful of times were so disappointing that we won't be coming back. Their food is good, but they are getting sloppy. We absolutely loved the salads. The issue is that they are NEVER consistent. And the order never seems to be right anymore. The last 3 times we ordered the shrimp salad, the shrimp was still raw inside. The last time we ordered the chicken, it was literally 1/4 of the chicken portion we had the time before. The portion was the size of a child's fist. Not worth the price we paid, plus delivery fee. The gyro meat is consistent in terms of taste, but again portion seems to be an issue. We always order an extra tatziki and have to pay for it, but half the time they forget to add it in. We have given up on Athena. Back to our usual Greek spots!

I ordered some food at 10:10 pm. The food came at 11:30 pm.The worst thing is they don't even have the courtesy to say we are sorry for being late. They stopped picking their phone and after 1 hour and 20 minutes, the driver finally came and I asked why it took that long, he just said that he is busy. Nasty staff all in all and the food wasn't good at all.

We have ordered from Athena Grill pre-pandemic and have always thought their food was good. But during the pandemic, we've been ordering from them even more and I can say that their quality of food has only gotten better. My family orders the gyro sandwich, chicken souvlaki sandwich, appetizer platter, hamburger, fries, and baklava. It is so DELICIOUS! I crave this place on the weekly. I hope this restaurant is around for a long time!!
