Atmosphere, not my favorite, But everything else more then makes up for that. The amount of staff working, nothing goes unnoticed. This staff might be the best i have had dinning, they notice i was left handed, plated my sushi backwards so i didn't have to cross over. When asked if we wanted any additional pieces, i couldn't remember, said it had skin and chard he knew the piece. The attention to details was unmatched. Definitely a recommended spot for sushi lovers. The flavor was wonderful.

As you'd certainly expect, the food itself was delicious and it was a treat watching the chefs prepare each bite. However, I would've loved more explanation on the various pieces, other than just what kind of fish it is. Like there was salmon from New Zealand. Why New Zealand? How is that different from the salmon we just ate? What should I be trying to taste? Even basics like "the fish is delivered every day blah blah, the chef tastes each cut blah blah, etc." You watched the chef make each piece, then he'd place it before you and say, "this is FISH_TYPE from ORIGIN" and that's it. Again - it was delicious - but a certain level of detail and storytelling is what elevates other DC fine dining , like minibar and kinship, to a full experience rather than just a meal. At over $250 per person, I felt somewhat underwhelmed. There was a missed opportunity to really WOW people. Also... sit at the sushi bar. The dining room gets an inferior experience for basically the same price. The couple next to us got the super omakase and it didn't seem worth it unless you absolutely HAVE to have the wagyu nigiri or truffles and caviar.

A perfect experience. We were intimidated to try a Michelin star restaurant but the staff was so friendly , professional, kind and passionate that we were put at ease almost instantly. It goes without saying that the food was out of this world , but the knowledge of the staff behind each piece was extremely impressive . This is an expensive treat for any sushi lover , but I would argue that you need to go if you can afford it . It was such a unique experience that our party will remember forever .

sat at the chef’s counter and did the super omakase. they only offer it at the counter and only when the Chef feels like it. if it’s on the menu, do it. it’s worth the extra money. everything we had was absolutely phenomenal— best food i’ve had in DC and easily the best sushi i’ve had. also, i don’t know much about sake, but the sommelier was fantastic at getting us to the right bottle. we told him what cocktails we like and our price point and he brought a bottle that was perfect.

okay, this is by and far the BEST restaurant I have ever been to. I was struggling with my asthma and once explained to my waiter they suggested the best tea for my throat and in the time it took to take my inhaler they had a double strength brew ready at the table for me. Absolutely brilliantly lovely staff, my first experience with sashimi and I loved Every. Bite. I'm big on textures with my food and can't do the rubbery/super chewy (calamari is not my friend) and there were only two pieces out of I think 20 that I wasn't the biggest fan of--but purely for that reason because every flavor profile was out of this world. best experience I've had in a restaurant ever. I forgot to take photos. it was so good that I completely forgot about taking them and was solely focused on my meal after the first serving. Also--they put a candle in my dessert which was adorable, and there was no singing--thank freaking goodness.

My husband and I sat at the sushi counter. We enjoyed the delicious Omakase Sushi course, but the chef was taking care of orders from the tables as well. Since he was busy busy, I felt so rushed to eat. Highball was so weak, could not taste whisky at all. Not sure I wanted to go back.

DC, this is your Michelin rated sushi restaurant. It's definitely tasty! And worth a visit. They have a wonderful sake menu as well. It's all omakase - so no decisions required. I'm rather sure everything we had, that could be, was auction-grade - to include the strawberry on top of the dessert. The staff was super great and knowledgeable. It was a memorable experience.

Omakase set experience was diverse, colorful, and exquisite. Excellent pairing recommendations. Top notch attention to detail from the chef, to the support staff and leads. Recommend shelling out the extra cash to dine st the sushi bar, where the sushi chef provides an individualized experience. Would recommend for once every in a while for people looking to gain or maintain an appreciation of sushi.
