Wavey's Bar-b-que

I went there last week with a craving for legit BBQ, and Wavey’s was there to answer that call. I got the 3 meat combo – I chose ribs, chicken, and brisket (omg the brisket), all of it delicious. My sides of collard greens and mac & cheese were awesome too. I make no claim to be an expert in anything, but I lived in Memphis for 8 years and was exposed to some amazing barbecue there- I’m here to tell you Wavey’s Bar-B-Que is the bomb. I’ll cannot wait to go back!

Wavey’s is one of those places I’ve past dozens of times but never stopped at . It’s a small hole in the wall place , to go only but they do have picnic tables out front to sit at if you choose to eat there . I got the 3 meat combo so I could sample a few things and it was phenomenal. The chicken was moist had a great smokey taste to it , the ribs fell of bone and were very tender and the brisket had a great flavor to it . The bbq beans had a sweeter taste to it reminds me of apple and cinnamon and was had a good flavor to it . They have two different sauces a mild and hot , I went with the mild this time it was a tomato based sauce .I will definitely be back and this is gonna be a go to if I am back in the area .

This is a great find! We drive by this place all the time, and finally decided to check it out, and we’re so glad we did. The owner is so sweet and friendly. We got the 3 meat combo with the ribs, brisket, and pork…. it was amazing! Such a big meat portion. The sides were also delicious especially the collards and baked beans. We will definitely be coming back here again and again.

I got the chicken and baked beans, my girl got the pulled pork sandwich with Mac n cheese and baked beans. The food was so good we didn't have time to talk. The chicken was juicy, tender and falling off the bone. The flavor of the meat itself was amazing, and the BBQ sauce was a perfect compliment to the meat. The baked beans were sweet and flavorful, with a hint of apples and cinnamon. Definitely one of a kind. She tells me the Mac was absolutely delicious, and I couldn't tell you because she wouldn't give me a bite. I think this is our new spot to stop and eat before we go to the zoo.

I'm so happy traffic made me get off I4. Found this gem. Felt like eating at family's house. Wife and I sat on the bench under the tree and enjoyed the BBQ. None of the meat needed sauce but the sauce itself is also very good. Brisket was tender and tasty without being greasy. Ribs had nice rub bark on them.

After a morning diving at Blue Springs bbq was calling my name. I’ve found that the best bbq (and boiled peanuts) comes from the smallest operations and had a good feeling about Wavey’s. Mr. Wavey started his business after the economy tanked in ‘08 and there was no more work constructing homes. He brought his grill to the side of the road and started cooking meat he’d been making his whole life for locals and travelers alike. The brisket sandwich was tender and juicy, the Mac and cheese delicious. I’ll definitely be back to try more. Why the name Wavey’s? Because he’d wave to everyone who drove by, and that alone tells you about the character of this man and the love he puts into his food.

Wavey is the nicest owner. He provided fantastic service told us about how he follows his moms recipe for collard greens. The love put into his dishes is very evident. We thoroughly enjoyed our three meat combo (chicken, ribs, brisket) and our two side (collard greens, baked beans.) The rib meat fell off the bones, chicken melted in our mouths with an amazing flavor throughout, and the brisket was the perfect mix of fat and meat. Both sauces are were tangy and flavorful. The collard greens...hands down best we’ve ever tasted. It had actual flavor, which is hard to find in collard greens. Baked beans were sweet with a slight bit of spice and pieces of bacon intermixed, also the best we’ve had. Beyond impressed with this quality, small business Bar-B-Que joint! We will definitely be back!

Good ribs w/ the choice of mild or hot bbq sauce (wish they had sweet) but sauce isn't really needed anyway... the baked beans were heavenly, good potato salad, tasty mac and cheese but the coleslaw taste like strong vinegar. Order ahead if you are in a rush.. - prices are a tad high but ultimately worth it when your bbq urge hits! :) Sides are around $3
