Susiecakes

Staff was great even though they didn’t offer any kind of discount for local school district employees. I purchased a few cupcakes and a small cake. A bit over priced yet not as high priced as sugar free shack. I was told the cupcakes had center filling. It didn’t seem so. Also the cake part was a little hard. The lemon cake started out ok. But then after a small piece I gave it away. If I see it after a week it’s gonna be splattered like the cupcakes. 😜

I honestly never wanted to spend a lot of money on a wedding cake. My mom was the one that a insisted we have enough cake for all of the guests. The only cake I ever want for any event especially my wedding is Suzie Cakes. Everyone raved about it and for Covid we put the cut slices in individual boxes so that everyone could take their cake home which most people were happy to enjoy later that night or the next day. I would tell every bride skip the fancy cake and just get a Suzie Cake. My only complaint would be that they wouldn't deliver it to my parents house for the wedding so someone had to go pick it up, but that could have just been a Covid related issue.

I have been to Susie Cakes many many times both in San Francisco and in Manhattan Beach and have always had a good experience. Sadly, they still haven’t gotten together during Covid while most other bakeries and restaurants have figured it out. Long line at the door - many who had prepaid and ordered but were told they still had to wait in line. Also, only letting one person in the shop at a time seems overly conservative - as well as the limited menu. The flourless chocolate cupcake was dry but the rest were very good, particularly the churros flavor. The most disappointing aspect is the customer service. The people working there seem angry. I purchased over $100 of cupcakes and was told I could only have 2 napkins, otherwise I had to buy them! This was after I was told they didn’t have any, but I could see them in the case.

Visiting from out of town for the wife's birthday and decided to give this place a try due to it appearing to be a high quality bakery, Very Disappointed at the small selection of cakes and quality for the price. Payed about 80$ for a very thick and hard lemon cake, it did have some flavor so I could see why the reviews are mixed. Don't think I would revisit or recommend.
