Mumbai Masala Indian Restaurant

This place is very good! Fast service, attentive staff, and a wonderful location! Atmosphere is soothing and the spice is powerful if you love spicy food. Friend had the vegetable korsam and said it was great. I had lamb curry and recommend it. Serving size is Asian, not American, so don't expect piles of food, but what you get is very filling.

On several occasions I have visited with other patrons who were actually from India to ask them, "Why do you dine here?" Their response was unanimous, "This is real Indian cuisine. The best genuine Indian food in Lexington." That, to me, sells this place without question. The noon buffet is wonderfully affordable; but this place is so popular that i have found the buffet on several occasions to have run dry. Get there early, and savor the tastes of India in a cozy downtown atmosphere-- with real linen table cloths, fine china and actual silverware. Full bar with bourbon, beer and wine make Mumbai a great mid-day spot for a casual date or tourist layover. The staff and hostess are all smiles. I could eat here every day... and some folks do.

The food was decent, but they didn't have any samosas made. Approximate 30 minute wait for delicious lil potato and coriander pocket turnovers. I am not about that life. I'm also not one to complain about the Interiors of an Indian restaurant, but this one is really doing the bare minimum. there's a halogen light above the bar that is doing its best effort to cause someone a seizure. If not for the Samosa incident I would have given this a Solid 4!

Food, flavor, spice, hospitality all amazing!! Couldn't find a good vegan meal to save my life until I discovered this little family restaurant by accident while on a business trip and so glad I did. I love my Indian food medium hot so I can feel the warmth, but still enjoy all the different flavors and they made it perfectly. Don't worry, they have options for spice from mild to hot to Indian hot! so whatever your likes they can accommodate you. They made my sauce with coconut cream also to keep it vegan. Don't judge the restaurant from the outside which is unassuming, but rather, wait until you take that first bite. Also, you can have your meal delivered by grubhub or doordash so that's an option as well, but if you do that I probably wouldn't order any naan as I doubt it would stay hot enough until it arrived. Definitely give this restaurant a try.

I ordered a mild dish for myself to share with my toddler and an Indian Hot dish for my husband through a gift certificate for a friend from a meal delivery service. Both dishes arrived Indian Hot. I called to let them know, thinking they would replace my spicy dish with the mild one I ordered. Instead, the hostess argued with me that it was indeed mild, laughed at me when I protested, put me on hold for 3 minutes and then hung up on me. I called back and she refused to pick up the phone. I went to the restaurant with my spicy dish in hand. I again reiterated that it was not mild and she argued again and laughed at me. I insisted on it being made correctly or a refund. She laughed again. Took it to the kitchen where again there was laughter. She finally returned and again argued that I was wrong but they would remake it. I asked why she hung up on me. She said she was busy in the restaurant. There were 4 customers. After the dish was remade, she handed it to me and I asked to taste it. She replied “it’s exactly the same”. I tasted it anyway and it was mild. I told her it was mild and she laughed again. Never an apology. No remorse for poor customer service. I shared the story with my FB friends and two people said the same exact thing happened to them within the last few weeks. One relayed that the meal was so spicy it made her sick. She has used the same service to order the meal and said there was no recourse through that company either. I love supporting small businesses but I will never eat here again. I am appalled by the customer service.

Pathetic... Food was either overcooked or not well cooked... One of the worst dinner's I have ever had! The minimal review rating allowed is 1, that too for the sake of google. Note: Service is good but certainly not the food! Briyani was like fried rice + some gravy mix with chicken not tasting fresh. Raita was like lasi.. Tandoori starters were like food half cooked in an oven..
