Staub's Landing

Large variety of food choices and beers. Atmosphere is fine but nothing special. Server was perfunctory and never asked if we wanted beverage refills or dessert ( having been a server,myself, I was always instructed to try to upsell). Food was good, but not outstanding. Our steak (underneath the bernaise sauce) was practically raw( we had asked for medium) initially- we sent it back. The portobello ribbons were nice- a unique way to serve them.

We went to Staubs for the first time for a double date with some friends and it was just ok. The entire restaurant/bar was almost completely empty. Since we’d never been there before, we werent sure if we needed to wait to be seated or not. A waitress asked where we wanted to sit and we explained we were there for drinks and dinner. She suggested the bar area so we sat in the bar area at a table for 4 which really should have been a table for 2. The table was so small we could barely fit 4 people with drinks. Since we intended on getting appetizers and entrees, we requested to slide a small table next to ours for more room for all of our plates (again, the place was NOT busy at all) and we were told no. The waiter said he wasn’t going to “waste” a table when someone else may want to use it. We decided to move to the restaurant area instead of trying to have a full meal on such a small table. The waiter from the bar side came to our table and said “I was looking for you!” We again explained the table was way too small so we asked to love to a bigger table on the restaurant side. He wasn’t happy but he waited on us for the rest of the meal anyway. The crab “dip” was basically a smashed dried out crab ball in a bowl. We actually wasted most of it. For $150+ we can go just about anywhere else and get a better meal and service. We were hoping it was going to be our new local spot but we won’t be back.

Since my wife got a new job, we're not in Hanover much anymore. Staub's was, combined, our favorite place to eat in town. It's her favorite, period, and might be tied for mine depending on mood. We always had great food and great service. It can get crowded and a bit noisy at peak times, but we were usually there at 5 on a Thursday so that didn't matter much. Large selection of bottled beer. Tap rotates things you can't find most places. Multiple times we got extra food, not from mistake, but because we got something like soup right at the bottom of the pot, so they have us the extra that didn't make a full serving, that sort of thing. Went there on the spur of the moment when another restaurant could not accommodate us. We were politely greeted and immediately seated. The server then greeted us minutes later and took our drink order. Service was excellent, there were many menu choice for both food and drink. I had the rock fish and it was amazing. We enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back.
