Syd's Place

First impression when you walk in the front door is not great. The smell is not something I could sit down and eat with. We were seated outside, thankfully. Food was okay. Some had burgers that were Very well done - burned badly to the point you couldn’t cut through without significant effort. I had the salmon and vegetable medley. It was very good. A bit salty for me but still really good. Perfectly cooked. Service was a bit lagging but the owner was around helping out. Staff was super friendly. Probably just order seafood. Seems to be more of their specialty.

Great food and great server, Allyson. Didn't know we needed reservations but were told so by the hostess as soon as we walked in the restaurant. We said we hadn't known and she said we could stay but needed to be out by 6pm which gave us 90 minutes to eat so we stayed. The hostess is the first impression you have of a place and they should make you feel welcome, not an imposition.

I have always loved Syd's Place, however tonight I had a terrible experience. First, not having a reservation, my date and I were seated and told we would have to be done in an hour. We sat down and we were served very quickly. We got our perch and it was undercooked and we found many bones! I guess they were making sure we were done in an hour! We sent food back, paid for our drinks and left! Very disappointing!!! The best part of our evening was our waitress! She gets five stars!!
