Bondir Restaurant

Bondir is fantastic! The food is delicious and the service is impeccable. It's one of my favorite restaurants and it has my vote for the cutest restaurant in Boston. Daily changing menu, local ingredients, wood-burning fire place, amazing service... what's not to love? For context, I have been to Bondir 5-10 times over the last few years. I've included pictures from my most recent meal. The Food -- Bondir changes their menu every day and uses fresh, local ingredients. That is a really hard thing to do and they pull it off. From the freshly made breads to the pre-dessert sorbet, they care about the details and the presentation. They always give healthy portions and I've never been disappointed with their main dishes. Every once in a while, there is a dish that confuses me or makes me think, but that's also part of the fun of a tasting menu. Also, I've been with many friends who have dietary restrictions and they have always adjusted the menu seamlessly - not just removing things, but replacing them with other ingredients to make the dish work. The service -- The team at Bondir is amazing and in such a small space, it really matters. I've seen the same two people every time I've been at the restaurant and they've been lovely. They are thoughtful, knowledgable, and cheery. Every time I've been at the restaurant Jason, the chef, has also come out and asked us everyone about their meal. They really seem like a nice group of people, which makes eating there all the better. The vibe -- It is a warm and friendly space. The wood-burning fireplace and the decor make it a cozy place to have a date or just a nice meal. There are little gems everywhere, like the planters around the space with herbs they actually use to cook.

It was really a gem that I didn't expect to find in Cambridge. Set course meal, optional wine pairing or you can select a wine. The chef greeted us at the door, with a friendly staff. They have alternatives to dietary restrictions, and are attentive when you let them know. And the fireplace at the front is a very nice touch too.

My twin and I ordered cakes from Bondir for our shared birthday. Both the chocolate rye and brown butter hazelnut cakes were so artfully decorated, with mature and nuanced flavors that effectively balanced the inherent sweetness. Really appreciated how Jason went out of his way to fulfill a same-day order despite missing the deadline due to confusion with the online order form. Looking forward to trying the croissants next!
