I visited this pub in March 2022 for a wake. The pub is basic but clean and some of the furnishings could do with updating. However the staff could not have been more helpful. They put on a lovely spread, fresly made sandwiches, along with all the usual finger foods. Would recommend.

Great - today I was mostly spoilt at the lovely lady Lou Lou,s 80th birthday bless her - we should pop over there another day love - the staff were very chatty and pleasant even with this ol fella asking questions about the last time I came in there was a billiards table - oh that was some time ago I was told - yes the last time I visited would be around 1997 - we must pop in again - Terry D xx

Friendly local pub, offering basic, but tasty, menu. Helpful, attentive staff. Free Wi-Fi. Dog friendly. Clean, with minimal Covid bollox. Bit cold, and wasn't made aware of text ordering service, but keen to try delicious looking Sunday roast so will go again

Love this pub. Great food including their Sunday roasts 5*, great staff and friendly landlord and lady. Have made this our local. More recently Karaoke and quiz nights have started again. Booking at the moment if you want to come down. Try it you might like it!

First time visit today since Kat and chef husband Steve took over from Darren and Chris. They bring experience from running the very well-regarded Old House at Home in Broadwater to the Alex, and today indicated a very good replacement for the lads. My companion and l had a vg Harvey's and my lunchtime standby, Barefoot white Zinfandel, nicely chilled, and two really good beef burgers with cheese and bacon, plus skin-on fries. Good size excellent burger, fries just as they should be, not greasy, crispy outside, fluffy inside. We admired the tomato relish so much we asked for two more pots! Kat has a lovely sense of humour and, in spite of her and Steve currently putting in 16-hour days, you wouldn't know it.
The pub's had a little refresh inside, and remains immaculate. We're so pleased much of the original menu's been kept as the Sunday roasts were huge and delicious. What is so nice is that all the food's made fresh, not hauled in and frozen until micro-nuked.
Great start, Kat and Steve. We'll be seeing lots more of you! Jon (and friend John)

Went there last night with my girlfriend ..have been there before..and it's such a comfy clean pub ..with great garden .we had burger and chips..which was fab ..chips tasty and lots of them. Burger was thick and really tasty . Could tell it was homemade ... worth every penny .bar staff were very friendly and cheerful ..all in all a lovely local..
