Twins Jazz

A real throw back in the best way possible, blinking fairy lights and the time capsule vibe of times gone by for an art form that is struggling to get by, but loved by those who really love it. The same people who pay 8 bucks for some IPA in a mason jar complain about the $15 dollar cover, as if the band doesn’t need to get paid. But they are charging $5 bucks for beer at a live music joint, and not at happy hour, in a hip spot. What do people really want? What do they think they deserve? If you love jazz, if you love a place with a hint of days gone buy run by interesting folk without the faux customer service smile, this is your place. If you want something else, DC has lots of that for you. But for those giving this joint one star: do some soul searching. Entitlement — it’s a thing.

This is such a great club... the best Ethiopian food around and great local live jazz. The food is reasonably priced, the staff is extremely friendly ....and the music is always really good. Sure-- it costs $10 to get in, but nearly all of that goes tp the musicians. All in all a great value, plus the feel good points for supporting local artists!!!

After being disappointed in our original destination, my wife and I wandered up the street until we came across the open door to Twins Jazz with the sound of lively music floating down the stairs. At the top of the stairs we are greeted by a familiar sight if you've ever been to a New York jazz club. A long, narrow room lined with tables and a scattering of booths, a stage at one end of the room and a bar at the other. Staff were attentive if busy, but the music and audience were both pleasant. My wife and I were informed by a kind, happy gentleman that we had stumbled into the best jazz club in the city, which you couldn't disprove by me. The drinks were good, pricing is what you should expect to pay at a club in a metro area, and overall I'd come back.
