My friend recommended I come here on my trip to DC, and I'm so glad she did! Tbh, I'm very jealous of anyone who lives near this place. Such a neighborhood vibe but a wine bar....which is not something I've found in Philly. Owner knows people, has great recommendations, offered a few samples for me to help me pick, and just a great person. Had so much fun and met a bunch of great people here just by sitting at the bar. Highly recommend, can't wait to come back!

They move a lot of wine through here, thanks in part to their monthly thematic menus. Each month they curate a new list of wines around a shared theme such as a region/country of the world. What's cool about this is that each month there will be something new to try, all without having to go through the hassle of finding a new wine bar to visit. Maxwell Park also hosts a variety of events that are worth checking out. There are many seating options, ranging from bar seating and indoor high-tops to lower tables outside on the patio.

Such a great vibe this place is…Service was great... sat at the bar was immediately greeted with water… and the music was good… I stopped in randomly ordered the grilled cheese which was spectacular!! Among the greatest that I have had and was able to have it paired nicely with a chilled white wine… I’m very content!

Absolutely love this Maxwell in Shaw. The atmosphere is great, the drinks are good and the food is great. Best grilled cheese in the city and the duck is amazing as well. I highly recommend this place if you are going to have a night out with friends or want a quick dinner in a pretty laid back atmosphere. Also good for date nights. Will definitely be back.

They have really upped the food game here since they brought on Masako Morishita in the kitchen. The food is creative, innovative, complex, yet unfussy. Loved the gyoza- which was filled with a rich edamame and garlic purée. I could’ve eaten them all night long. The taco rice is the traditional comfort food like you find in Japan, but the beef is cooked in Japanese curry spices… making it even better. Also recommend the braised daikon as long as it’s on the menu. This dish is of the caliber of something you expect to find in a Michelin rated restaurant. Really really great. Oh and the wine is good too.

My new favorite wine bar (really the only wine bar I know). Multiple staff members, including the owner, are sommeliers and are very knowledgeable of wine. They have a monthly theme that keeps people coming back for more, and they do cool events all the time. Get there early for a table (I don't think they do reservations), get an Uber, and hey ready for a great night.
