The food is amazing, the coffee and hot drinks are better (and cheaper) than their neighbors', the staff is friendly and helpful. I like to buy local where I can, this place gives me good reasons to.

Best bakery on the Hill. They have great pastries and a fantastic walnut brownie, perfect to grab with some coffee and carry home to surprise someone. Friendly staff helped us make the hard choices of what to pick last time we were in.

One of my favorite coffee shops in DC. Great coffee, great pastries and a great ambiance. There's lots of room so it's perfect for catching up with some friends or studying. Plus, the manager and team are super hospitable and nice. Highly recommend!

Great bakery and coffee shop with good selection of baked goods, house coffees, and flavorful teas. Atmosphere is relaxed and bright, can be busy during midday on a weekday. If you are looking for a quiet coffee shop to come read a book over a cup of your favorite brew, I recommend weekends as it tends to be quieter. Recommend: quiche Lorraine with Earl Grey tea.

We went back a second morning in a row on our weekend trip to D.C. their sandwiches are so big you can share with your spouse. And what really brought us back was the friendly staff. A friendly, caring staff really makes the difference in the atmosphere of a place!! Good job Firehook.

Big selections of desserts and drinks. I was only able to order a slice of one type of cake (white chocolate). Good space to get some work done, and the service staff is outstanding.
