Kara's Cupcakes

I was very disappointed. 1. The cupcake i bought was filled (supposedly) with pasion fruit and when I bit into it, the was only a small dro pool of passion fruit see picture. The cupcake itself was very very dry, I think they overcooked it. 2. Bought a cookie and we were told it was crunchy in the outside shift in the middle, when we got it, it was super hard as if it had been there for days. Very disappointed like i said for that price it is NOT worth it.

We ordered 8 mini cupcakes to try a variety of favors before placing an order of 10 dozen cupcakes for our wedding. They were beautifully decorated, the service was friendly and prompt, everything was amazing until we tasted the cupcakes, most of the cake flavors were dry and bland, the "karrot" cake did have some flavor but it was mediocre at best. The globs of butter cream icing on top are the only part with and flavor- butter and whipped sugar- if you close your eyes they all taste the same. Same taste as Walmart if you close your eyes.

Bought some cupcakes for someone, just because, a number of months ago. Drove all the way from another city just to buy some for her. Questioned whether it was worth the 30 minute drive. First time purchasing them. Though not the freshest, the flavors were really good. On the expensive side. I'm spoiled by deserts (and any food in general) made the same day so my standards can be high. I would not drive all that way for myself or my coworkers but worth the drive to buy her something she likes and see her beautiful smile.

This afternoon I went into the Walnut Creek location to purchase 4 cupcakes. The woman working was helpful and told me that all the gluten free cupcakes looked the same and were sunken in the middle. I asked about more in the back and was told they all looked like that. I got my 4 cupcakes and when I got home I could feel that they were hard as a rock and very dried out. I guess no fresh cupcakes were made at this location today and I received yesterdays inventory or earlier. At any rate I should not have been sold these unedible cupcakes.

I have been eyeballing this store for months and finally made it in today. Their display cabinets were practically empty. The service was great. The cupcakes were not what I expected. The cake was blan. The filling was too strong and the frosting tasted like flavored Crisco. I bake on the side and I am always paranoid about making my cakes and cupcakes perfect so they look professional. After being in a professional place in thinking my homemade cakes taste way better than what I experienced today. How do they stay in business? This place sucks!

We love love love that these aren't diabetic coma-inducing over-sweetened cakes. The frosting tastes of butter and some sugar. . .never too much sugar. You actually taste the fruit or salt caramel or whatever the flavor is. This is truly a quality cupcake. We have completely given up buying from any of those others cupcake joints where all the "flavors" is the sugar. And don't even get me started on Kara's passionfruit . . .

Always a wonderful selection of cupcakes! Always GREAT flavors from this bakery and I have been to many of Kara's locations. Staff is very helpful and I plan on using Kara's for my upcoming baby shower:) I have tried many bakeries that specialize in cupcakes and nobody has been able to beat Kara's on flavor, quality, and service (not even the famed Sprinkles).
