Ninfa's Mexican Restaurant

1st time visiting with my husband, and the food was good. My food was hot but my hubby's food was cold. He said it was tasty just cold. This was the 1st time we have not had a manager come over to check or acknowledge an error. There were a few excuses given to the waitor who was providing great service. But sometimes mistakes are made. Masks optional for everyone.

Traveling from Dallas to San Antonio we stopped in for dinner. The restaurant itself has a nice ambiance, and the staff is extremely friendly, but the food…that’s a different story. I ordered the crab burrito, and while it had a good flavor, the sauce that’s served atop is very rich. A sauce that rich makes it difficult to keep eating it bite after bite. The dish would’ve benefited from some acid on the plate. A simple salad lightly dressed w/lemon atop the burrito would’ve been fresh and perfect! My husband ordered a dish that came with tortillas on the side and unfortunately they fell flat LITERALLY on serving authentic flour tortillas; which is one reason I rated them a 3 out of 5. Flour tortillas need a rising agent (baking powder) to help them rise, and theirs were not appetizing at all. They were also half raw making it difficult to really enjoy our food. The 2nd reason for the 3 stars is their tostada chips. They were completely saturated with oil making the bite unpleasant. We really wanted to like this place because it was a nice spot with super friendly staff, but just couldn’t get past the disappointing tortillas and chips.

First time eating at this restaurant. Rice and beans where AWESOME(not a fan of restaurant rice). I orders the Don Quixote and my boyfriend had the El Tommie. Side order we had the “ratones”. Everything was delicious. Portion size was really good- we have left overs. Price is reasonable. We did order drinks as well. Spider-Man was yummy! Bartender- Angie made the experience very pleasant. Will definitely come back. Will be worth the drive and wait. (We sat at the bar so no way to get a table) but for a table on a Sunday afternoon the wait would have been 15-20min for 2 people.

Great food and good overall service made our lunch passable. The problem was that the food for our group of 8 was not delivered together. Instead, 6 plates came out and as those six people were finishing up, the other two arrived. See photo. Aside from that (a pretty big deal) the visit was good.

Best Mexican food I've had in a long time!!! Highly recommend eating here if you're in the area. Mandy was our server and she should train waitresses for every restaurant!! Never once was my tea empty nor my chips and salsa. I had the crawfish enchiladas and if I lived in that area I'd probably eat there 5 times a week. My buddy had fajitas and he said they were very good as well. Just go!! You won't regret it.
