Tempe Public Market Cafe

I have always loved this cafe. Great atmosphere and food. Stopped by today with Google saying they were still open but had this sign on the door. (Difficult to read because of refection) "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we make the following announcement. Effective today January 17th, Tempe Public Market Cafe will be closed." Truly sad. It was a great place.

This is the third or fourth time I've changed my review. I waited awhile and multiple visits before reposting. They've had some inconsistency issues they seem to have addressed. I hope they've addressed, because on a good day/night this is a great place to hang out. Staff that tries to take care of you, and bartenders who know their way around a drink. The vegan wings are beyond awesome. A must try. Same with the pretzels. I've tried most of the dinners, but have not retried since they changed the menu. Would recommend the meatloaf (the only resturant meatloaf I've ever recommended) and the nontraditional udon noodles. If you know and want Udon Noodles, look elsewhere. If you're willing to try the occasional culinary gamble, this is worth the risk. Major payoff. And the Melo-tonic adult beverage is worth the hangover.Every. Single. Time.

Now, a few weeks after remodel and reopen, this place was fabulous !! I had gone to the first version of this Cafe when they just opened - tried it twice and had two BAD experiences, both Service and Food related (plus just a poor layout). I would not have gone back. Now that they redesigned it and added table service, decided to try it for brunch today and it was really good. Got the simple "Breakfast", and the food came out very fast, everything was hot, and everything on that plate tasted great, eggs (large portion and well cooked), bacon (meaty and crispy), very nice crunchy bread, and really great potatoes. The coffee was excellent. My daughter joined me and had the Chicken Sandwich, which she thought was excellent. So they fixed - the atmosphere (not that much different, but I like the new decor a bit better), the service, the food. WELL DONE !!

GREAT SERVICE! COZY SETTING GOOD FOOD .ORDERED A LITTLE OF EVERYTHING COFFEE ,PASTRIES, CHICKEN SANDWICH, SALAD AND COCKTAILS THE STAND OUTS CHICKEN SANDWICH & SALADS DEFINITELY THE BATHROOMS ARE SUPER CUTE .MANAGER WAS VERY ATTENTIVE TO HIS CUSTOMERS HAD A FEW PROBLEMS BUT HE HANDLED EVERYTHING WITH PROFESSIONALISM AND KINDNESS THIS LITTLE GEM HAS A NEIGHBORHOOD COZY CAFETERIA VIBE.

Went for breakfast. Went with the Rooster Booster. Which is eggs, bacon, crispy potatoes & toast. It was your basic breakfast. The husband got the Green Chile Burrito with a side of crispy sweet potatoes. The burrito was huge. It was not very spicy, but was fine. The sweet potatoes were tasty. Sodas are by the bottle. We are not coffee drinkers but looks like they have a good variety. Food is ordered at the counter and they bring it to your table. They also have local items for sale, like honey, jam and hot sauce from First We Feast - Hot Ones, for sale. Really cute place. A little on the pricey side for breakfast. I am intrigued by the dinner menu. Will be back.
