Oregano's

When's the last time you've been to Oregano's? For me, it was in Old Town, the OG location way back. This location in Tempe kinda reminded me of Oregano's in the golden years, so I was stoked. We sat in the little back house, which is super cozy. Service was friendly and attentive. We started with the calamari, which was a letdown. Apparently, people like it, but it was fried squares of blan, frozen nothingness. We sent it back and went for the baked ravioli that was good. Kind of had low expectations at this point for our entrées. However, we were wrong! I had the lasagne, which was amazing with flavorful sausage and spicy marinara, perfectly cooked pasta. Also, the table ordered the penne pasta and chicken piccatta. Both were outstanding. Finished off with the cookie pizza thing, which was, well you know...and now we want to go back asap!! We definitely will return!!

So there's this pizza... OMG! Hands down top tier. My first impression was everything. I was expecting a flat, oversized typical NY style pizza. Boy was I wrong. I knew this was some heat soon as I smelled it. This pizza was baked to perfection, y'all. Definitely worth the $30 I paid for it. Crust was soft on the inside and crispy on the out. Ingredients were fresh. Sauce was fantastic! Best deep dish I ever had. I'm hoping they start a chain in Kansas City... That's Missouri not Kansas.

Stopped in today for a late lunch. I was greeted with a friendly smile by the bartender/waitress Christina. I ordered the Big Beef Sandwich with Sweet Po's. The sandwich was fresh, juicy and seasoned well. Added some of the chef's aoli, which gave each bite a secondary explosion of flavor. The Sweet Po's held up and did not get super soggy. Washed everything down with a Kilt lifter that stayed crisp and cold for my entire meal. Whether lunch or dinner, dine-in or takeout, I have tried most of the menu at various Oregano's locations and have left with a satisfied belly and smile on my face. This location is great before a night out or a fun family dinner.

I had a special request for a family birthday and the Manager Kevin went out of his way to accommodate us and was so friendly and professional! And of course the meal was delicious!! I have been an Oreganos fan for years, but this really sealed it making one it of my favorite restaurants in Tempe! Thank you again Kevin!

The holy guaca-tony is so good! And a HUGE portion. Loved the Alfredo the dark, seasoned perfectly. The husband loved his dish, too, but I don't remember what it was. Went back a second time, and it was just as good. The prickly pear margarita is delicious. Not too sweet and strong! Wish it had a salted rim, but I'm sure I could have asked for it.
