St. George's Donuts

This local family owned shop has 3 locations in the Springfield. I usually stop in this location on National and Battlefield but I'm sure the quality is as good at all 3 locations. The absolute best donuts in the Springfield area. Made fresh every day, not frozen like those chain places. Great family run business. The glazed are my favorite but have many other donuts to mix and match.

Apple fritters, glazed, and caramel nut donuts were excellent. The service was not very good. Apparently the regulars know what's in the showcase but not so much for first timers. Regulars get a different level of engagement from staff than if you're not known. Case in point, many great looking donuts and pastries are unidentified which leaves it to asking the clerk helping you to help identify. But apparently you will be subjected to rolling of the eyes if you interrupt their conversation with the regulars AFTER they've offered to help you out. I'll give them a second chance after another visit. If at which point service is still garbage, I simply wont spend my money there. And I don't expect that to kill their business. They've clearly been in the donut game since the 70's and the donuts themselves are very good.

I stopped in last weekend to pick up some Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast and couldn't have been happier to do so. A full tray of rolls greeted me, along with cases of donuts, long johns, bear claws, apple fritters... the list goes on and on! The Cinnamon Rolls were perfect. Soft, warm and filling the car with a wonderful aroma on the way home. I did buy a couple of donuts and ate them in the car and I don't care if my glucose level looks like the Dow Jones index. Whatever the occasion, whatever the Holiday or you need to order something special, this is a terrific bakery!

Best donuts around. A must when we are in Springfield and we beg guests who travel from Springfield to bring some to us on their visits to Omaha. We try donuts everywhere we travel and have tried every place where we live, but nothing compares to St. George’s in Springfield! Especially love their cinnamon rolls and sprinkle donuts (cake and glazed!)
