Golden Hong Kong

Lunch time is the right time to visit. The service team at dinner time is clearly the B team. Waited 30 minutes for a table despite half the restaurant being empty. When the door was brought out, it was one dish at a time. So, a table of four never ate together. The saving grace is that the food is phenomenal. At lunch, you get great food AND great service.

A good Cantonese style restaurant which reminded me my parents cooking growing up. Everything we had - hot & sour soup, soup dumplings, char siu bau, dim sun, Hong Kong Pork Chops were all well seasoned. Staff was friendly and fast even during the lunch hour and the restaurant was busy. I definitely see why this place gets good reviews!

Parents love this place so every time we visit the DMV, we always go here. Many diners are Asian so you know this food is going to be good. It's always crowded here and there's a festive atmosphere. We ordered regular dishes rather than dim sum, but I love dim sum. My favorite dish is the salt and pepper fried tofu. Came to about $97 before tip.

20230504 One if my favorite, if not my favorite, Chinese restaurant in the area. I love their seafood chow foon. They make amazing shrimp fried rice. Dim sum is good too. The waiter, the older one, is very nice and thoughtful. He noticed I ordered shrimp items for my sister and asked if I wanted inly shrimp in the seafood chow fun. His attention to details impressed me. This restaurant was Golden Hong Kong, and now Peppercorn... but everything is pretty much the same... menu, food quality, Employees except for the prices. It might be a tiny bit higher. I got the salty and spicy pork chop, and some dim sum items. Some food didn't make it home, and whatever is left, I managed to get some pics. The pork chop was good... a light crunchy but not really salty or spicy. The dim sum is pretty much the same comparing to other restaurants'. One noticeable change was the sticky rice wrapped in leaves. It was more dry, not sticky like before, and much smaller. Still good.

I haven’t had dim sum since January of 2020. This store is now under a new ownership and new name of ‘Hot Peppercorn’ instead of ‘Golden Hong Kong’. Their shrimp ha gow, pork shu mai, and shrimp crispy spring rolls were delicious! I also loved their seafood chow fun. Overall, this place is cleaner than before. Servers were courteous and friendly. I just like how they offer dim sum all day and not only during a specific lunch hours which are typically from 11-3PM. Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for an affordable Chinese food!
