Blimpie

Blimpie. In the time of my youth my sandwich sojourn led only to Togo's and Erik's deli. At later days I wandered to the toasty temple of Quizno's, and compromised at the Mecca of mediocrity (Subway), but seventeen years ago I had never so much as considered bivouacking to Blimpie. Yes, seventeen years ago at this exact location, my chubby adolescent fingers first gripped a soft, white Blimpie roll on the lawn of Sutter's fort. What I recall from that day has held true through the past two decades to my second and third visits over the past two days: "this tastes like a sandwich." In all seriousness, this is a good sandwich at a reasonable price and convenient location. The guy behind the counter is personable and does a good job quickly. It isn't an artisanal, free-range, arugula and quinoa bowl, it's a classic sandwich. Enjoy it for what it is.
