Brackens Bbq

Wow! This is the best barbecue place in Norfolk that I have found, by far! The atmosphere is very rustic and traditional to barbecue restaurants. I was very impressed with the service and recommendations. I tried the Bracken burger: a cheeseburger topped with pulled pork and cole slaw. Phenomenal flavor!! Their pulled pork is smoked in house and topped with a made in house barbecue sauce that absolutely makes life worth living. I really can't say enough about how great my experience was! Definitely will be returning.

Nice restaurant, oh but the food is awesome. I had the burnt ends. Wow they were like butter, moist and tender full of flavor. My daughter had the brisket/ burnt ends combo. She said it was delicious. My son ate there also. He told us about the restaurant. We'll definitely coming back. "Beach Bully" better look out. There's a new sheriff in town.

A little hard to find, but once you do, You will LOVE IT! First, the staff was amazing! We couldn't decide which sandwiches to get. We each ordered a different sandwich, NC Bbq Sandwich and Smoked Turkey Sandwich. They were nice enough to cut the sandwiches in half and we each got to try both sandwiches. The food was phenomenal!! I saw a bad review but did not find anything she stated to be true. It's a quaint little place. Friendly staff and Awesome food! Must Try!

This restaurant never fails to impress. Everything was delicious and we even had some leftovers. The prime rib sandwich is awesome and even better with some of their home made cole slaw on it. The half of rack of ribs were so tender, they fell off the bone. The burnt ends were an incredible appetizer. Finally the mac-n-cheese is to die for. I highly recommend bringing an appetite and sit back and enjoy the food.

My friend and I had a very terrible experience. Excited for BBQ as almost any human usually is (especially for a place with nearly 5/5 stars), we were more than just disappointed. The atmosphere is awkward, the place was completely empty, and the service was lower than average. The entire time we were waiting for our food, we heard the microwave beep and open and close. My tea tasted like tap water (which I know is strange, but yes, EVEN the tea was off putting), my brisket was grey colored, and the gravy and beans looked like it was dumped out of a can, microwaved, and then served. My friend and I even agreed that sailors on deployment probably receive better food than what we were being served. Somewhat luckily, I didn't have to pay for my plate, which I barely touched, anyway. My friend, though, did and she was charged for my drink which we didn't appreciate since she took maybe three bites of everything and then we left. I don't recommend this location to anyone nor will I ever return. Sadly but honestly, you couldn't pay me enough to eat here again.
