Bangkok Garden

Ordered takeout here today. They had my food ready on time and within 20 minutes of me calling in the order. I have always had good food here. I like spicy food and they always deliver on that promise. They also make plenty of options for people who like things on the more mild side. Along with the usual Americanized favorites, Bangkok Garden also has some lesser known northern Thai dishes that are my favorite.

Thai main stay in Norfolk! The food and service are great. Prices have gone up slightly since last visit (2months ago) and they have removed the salad & spring roll appetizer that came with the dinner. But I expect they have had to tighten their economic belt now that they have to continue to meet added COVID compliance but no longer get any government subsidy to offset the added costs. Hopefully this is transitory and things will go back to usual over the next few months.

Pay attention to your bill, mine had a 20% gratuity added which would've been fine if i was with a large group but it was a table for 2. The food is still delicious and our waitress was non-stop smiles and pleasantries but because I didn't pay attention, I ended up tipping twice. The first 20% I missed and then I tipped the bill amount that already included the tip. She was good but I never would've given her the equivalent of 40% of my bill if I were paying attention. The fried rice plate had to contain 2 pounds of food, no kidding, it was a mound of jasmine rice, bell peppers, onions and just pure goodness. Hubby still has not learned his lesson with the spice levels as 3 is not nice - it's fiery for a few seconds and definitely makes you aware of the spice. Aside from the heat, the noodles were perfect and he still thinks they are the best at pad Thai in the local area. We always go here when we visit norfolk and they never disappoint but the automatic tip has me second guessing a return trip. On the bright side we had hot food at our table in about 5 minutes.
