Bonchon Chicken - Newark, Ca

Okay, have their quality gone down and prices up?! I ordered drumstick and wings combo, however, those weren't wings. They were like frozen chicken tenders you'd buy at the grocery store rolled around their sauce. The fried rice wasn't so bad but it was so disappointing I'm not sure will ever be back.

Ordered a Bibimbap for pick up. And realized there’s no sauce when I got home. If there’s no sauce, it’s just unacceptable. Called them and the front blamed on the chief. If I want the sauce I had to drive 25 minutes back to get it. Had to find a nearby Korean restaurant to get the sauce. Not eating there anymore.

I've never left a review, but this restaurant made me to do it. If I could give them 0 star, I would do it. My husband got the half and half chicken (spicy and soy) for to go. When we open the food and had the first bite, it destroyed our dinner at all. The chicken looked like they used left-over food, or they at least refried. In the same piece, the frying paste were both overcooked and too raw by having a several later. In addition, some part tasted and smelled like dishsoap. After having one piece, we just threw it away. It was the worst food that I have ever had, and I cannot believe they sell the food like that. Not only we wasted our money, but also we ruined our dinner.

About 15 tables and a bar. Nice and clean. Bibimbap is great, just like the best ones from a traditional Korean restaurant. Tteokbokki is much heavier and cheesy, very different than traditional ones, and the flavor is rich and creamy, still good in a different way. Both flavors, spicy and garlic soy, of the fried chicken are good, and the crust is crispy but the batter could be a bit thinner. The chicken meat is just mediocre, even a bit stale.

Is this a genuine Bonchon store??? We eat Bonchon a lot and ordered from many different stores throughout the bay area. But we just tried this store for the first time and their chickens look different and taste so different (a lot worse than other places). They don’t have the sauce that other places have which to me is one of Bonchon’s signatures. They also don’t have the same fried texture. Their chickens don’t even come in Bonchon branded paper boxes, just come in containers as in the photo. The only thing that make me feel this might be a genuine store is the fact that they show up inside the Bonchon app. But other than that their chicken is far worse than other Bonchon places.

I don't normally leave reviews but... ordered for delivery and it's weird to think that my order might be from a fake Bon Chon. We got the order in a tray with aluminum foil (at other locations, we get it in the branded paper box). When we tasted the chicken, it wasn't as tasty as the same exact order we had from a different store a month ago. To top it off, the wings we were given weren't even the full size wings 😭 I want to support local business but I would not recommend this location.
