Sugar Daddy's

The food was absolutely amazing!!! I was pleasantly surprised. We had the salmon shrimp and grits with the chicken shrimp and waffles. It did not disappoint. Not in the best neighborhood and doesn't look the prettiest on the outside but I've been to places with great ambiance and mediocre food. This was NOT mediocre. Do yourself a favor and stop by if you're in the area....go hungry!

This place is horrible. I purchased burgers from this establishment and to be honest the first four i ordered for family was pretty good. So I later ordered additional ones for other family member so that they can try it. I wanted to hire them for an event so I was getting reviews. The burgers that were purchased later were burned, black and hard.....DISGUSTING and no one could eat it at all. Which mean the cook knew that when they sold them. It was approximately 8pm and we called and called with no answer. I left messages and called the next day. I spoke to a young lady who said she would talk to the owner about my reimbursement. NEVER HAPPEN. I called several times and the person who answer always claim to get back to me but they are not. Their Unprofessional black people examine you food from this place. I will never patronize this business again but I believe they will not be around long because of their public relations and customer service skills are bad. See the pictures of the two burgers; so you can judge for yourself, I love supporting black business but they should love providing good service.

I have passed this place for months since I've learned of its location, and was super psyched to get a chance to try this food. The restaurant looks very aesthetically pleasing in my opinion, and it's very cozy, not too many people can be seated at once. I tried the jerk shrimp pasta and was ABSOLUTELY happy with what I received, it also came with a fresh, delicious salad. At first, i thought the prices were a bit expensive but as i saw with my dish, it would seem the portions here are trustworthy. Overall, I enjoyed my meal, and was given ample service and felt real welcome. PLEASE COME CHECK THIS SPOT OUT!

Hidden Gem in Newark. Wonderful chicken/shrimp on waffles. Everything was crisp and seasoned so well. I love the sauce they drizzled on the waffles and that they have a shrimp option. I know everyone is weary of Newark but take a stroll (or order delivery if you wanna stay in). My only thing is that it was a little dusty where we sat on the 2nd floor but the food is so good and different, it is something that can be overlooked.

I stumbled across this place while on a lunch break from jury duty. If you're in the same sitch, take advantage and take the 10 min walk to Sugar Daddy's. It's a little on the pricey side for lunch, but it's worth every penny. The salmon-and-shrimp and grits wouldn't be out of place at a slick soho spot. The decor is graffiti-chic, the place is clean and well-lit and everyone there is friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic. A tastebud-saving oasis in an otherwise depressing wasteland of food options.
