Came here for my birthday last night and enjoyed my experience. The food was good except I didn’t care for the macaroni and cheese. My family members enjoyed their meals. We were seated quickly. Our server Jalen was excellent.

My sister invited me for lunch and we decided to eat at the bar, it was my first time eating here and let me tell you the food was out of this world!! I ate the California sushi roll as a starter and had the Caesar salmon salad and had two lemon drops I left with a tummy full and a little toasty. I found my new favorite restaurant!!! Best experience and food in Nashville I will be back many times !!!

Food was good but keep in mind that if you have a birthday, apparently you have to tell them a week in advance. Also, they "forgot" to bring the cake out for our birthday so we just took it home and will cut it there. Service could be improved especially for birthday experiences. Won't be here again for that.

First time dining here. Service was exceptional, food good. I ordered quiche with side salad and key lime pie. Salad was fresh (nice portion), very good. Pie was good, too. Quiche was nothing special. I would visit again and order a different main course.

Funny enough... the sushi was the best thing we ordered. Mac N Cheese was to die for 😀.

For the most part our dinner there 2 weeks ago was a great experience. Staff was very friendly and the food was amazing. HOWEVER, please do a better job at monitoring who comes in. My husband was accosted by a homeless man with a completely open shirt begging for money as we were getting ready to leave. Not exactly something people want to experience at ANY restaurant but especially one that is touted as upscale.

My husband and I had a really nice time, and the food was delicious. Our server was so nice . The only reason they did not get five stars was because this is an upscale restaurant, but the bathrooms were messy and smelly. That being said, I would dine here again.

Food is always great here! Chicken tenders are great and never had a bad salad there. Our server today was very unpleasant, but I will write that off as her just having a bad day- because that is not my usual experience at J Alexander. Went to the bar to order our carrot cake to go. Bar tender was quick and attentive and the carrot cake is to die for, as always!

Discover the perfect oasis away from the bustling Broadway scene at J. Alexander's in Nashville. With a relaxing and mellow atmosphere, it's an ideal retreat after a visit to the Parthenon, just a brisk 5-minute walk away. Cool off from the Nashville heat and experience swift seating and truly exceptional service. Bridget, our server, impressed us with her knowledge, friendliness, and top-notch service. Don't miss the must-try Avocado Bomb if you're a fan of tuna and crab salad—the presentation alone is spectacular. The Shrimp Crunch Roll is absolutely delicious, and the Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos are simply fabulous. We opted for the French fries over the rice and beans, and they were a crispy, perfectly seasoned delight—truly the chef's kiss! To beat the heat, indulge in the amazing Paloma or the refreshing Fleur-de-lis Martini. And if you visit, make sure to request Bridget, who goes above and beyond to provide a phenomenal dining experience. Cheers to an unforgettable time at J. Alexander's! 🍽️🍸

My friend had previously booked a reservation with Ainsworth to celebrate their engagement. Ainsworth's unprofessionalism of not advising us ahead of time that the kitchen was closed due to no staff. My friend called J Alexander and they told us to come on, they could accommodate her party without waiting or a reservation. Oh my, the food was so good. I had the grilled shrimp, mash potatoes, and broccolli. The bread was just plain. Definitely Chef's kiss. After all the mishaps, the engaged couple, along with family & friends throughly enjoyed the J Alexander experience. Will definitely be back.
