Uncle Bud's Catfish Shack

We love Uncle Bud's Lil Hooks Catfish! They are little nuggets of Catfish cornbread-battered and fried to perfection! Normally, the meals are served with all you can eat sides of white beans, coleslaw, hush puppies, pickles & onions, and wedge fries. We are not fans of those all sides, so we just order the Lil' Hooks as a side with sides of fries and hush puppies. For dessert, you should definitely try the 'Nana Pudding!

What a gem of a place! Sometimes good food done right is all you need. Delicious hush puppies the size of a baseball arrive quickly along with quart sized mason jars of your favorite beverage before you even order your dinner. We happened to stop in on AYCE Fried Catfish night and what a treat it was. The fish was nice and crispy and seasoned well. The fries must be cooked separately as they didn't taste of seafood. The tartar sauce is lemony and they even have Cane Syrup at your disposal for those in the know. Our server was on top of refills quickly and was very kind. The only miss for me was the cobbler, it had enough butter in it to make Paula Deen blush. We enjoyed our meal very much and plan to come back on Sunday for the chicken special.

The food was tasty. U get unlimited sides when purchasing the entree (beans, slaw, pickled onions etc) only thing is the portion sizes for the entrees. They're skimpy. I ordered the 2 or 3 piece catfish and the filets were really small. Ion know if they were larger before the fry but damn, did they shrivel down. Two bites and the filet was gone!! Good thing they kept the sides coming but who wants to fill up on sides? The entree is the main meal. For that, u get a star off. Everything else was fine. Service, staff, overall cleanliness... I liked it. For the entree prices tho, they gotta do better. I understand inflation, overhead, profits but $18 for what received? Nah, bigger portions make sense.

I had the best time and meal here! I dined alone and had an older female server who made me feel right at home. The catfish was delicious and so was the tartar sauce. Maybe the best tartar sauce I ever had! The server recommend the two piece for me, but knowing how much catfish I can eat, I ordered the largest platter and still had room for more! The portion size was appropriate, but I didn’t eat much of the sides (which are endless). I was just really craving catfish! The pickles were to die for. I asked for extra and she brought me out a whole bowl, which I ate. They even sold me some to take home! Literally the best pickles I’ve ever had. I wish I lived closer so I could get more pickles. Can’t wait to come back!!

Catfish and Chicken are what they do. Thursday offers All You Can Eat Catfish; whole or filets. Hushpuppues. White Beans. Coleslaw. Pickles. Freshly hand sliced white onion. Service is fast and efficient. The atmosphere is clean but definitely not fancy...the 20 minute wait for a table was not unexpected and warranted.
