Papitos

The restaurant is tucked away in one of the corners of the shopping mall. It was a nice place, and the food was very good. My one thing about today is that I felt like the service was a little frazzled. They seemed stressed, and worn thin, and not incredibly friendly and personable. However, the food was very good!

Wow, was this place dirty! The floors and bathrooms were very off-putting. We were unfortunate in our timing since a party of 19 sat down before us. Their specialty drinks and food orders (which took over 30 minutes) were all done before we were acknowledged. No chips, no drinks, no nod across the room...no nothing. Once our waiter noticed us, he was still not friendly or intuitive. I ordered the lunch chicken fajitas and my lunch mate ordered the burrito lunch special. The food was okay, but not great. My fajitas were cold and the tortillas were rubbery. The bite I look of the burrito was better than my meal. The portions were large, so my kiddo was able to eat off of our plates and there were still leftovers. We will try somewhere else next time.

Went in and host and server were great, very friendly. My husband ordered the shrimp chimichanga and it only had 6 of the smallest shrimp you can get (salad shrimp) it mainly had red and green peppers with onions. When we were eating 2 people (employees) were horseplaying and tickling each other in the booths causing the lights to go out which we sat there eating in the dark until they noticed they were off. 🙄 This place is so dirty!!

I ate here a few times over the course of the 6 weeks I spent in town at my parent’s as Papito’s is their local choice for Mexican food. I’ve had a couple different dishes, and I would say they were okay. I had the Steak Fajita Chimichanga which was a large portion entree as it comes with rice and beans with a standard size chimichanga. The steak wasn’t very flavorful inside the chimichanga, so I wasn’t “Wowed,” and if I were to try the Chimichanga again, I’d probably get the Chicken since that is what my mother always ordered. I also had the Fajita Quesadilla with Steak. This was smaller than I anticipated since the menu said “large quesadilla;” I expected a larger portion than what I view as a standard size quesadilla. Although it was tasty and filling, the entree did not come with rice or beans which would have paired well with this quesadilla. The Queso is definitely delicious, and their Salsa is extremely fresh tasting—loved both of these! So, regarding food overall, I’d rate them as average. Regarding service, I would say that the hostess is always friendly and inviting, and the waitstaff were definitely on top of refills. The only 2 remaining comments I have are why I went down from 4 to 3 stars, and that is hygiene and smell. The first smell that hits me entering the restaurant is very unpleasant. I actually thought someone had gotten sick in the lobby the first time I was there, but by the 3rd time, I decided it was a normal smell in the entrance. The last comment was actually one my mother made on our last visit when she saw that one of the female staff with long hair was swinging her hair all around the tortilla press as she was making tortillas. The comment was how staff that are doing the cooking should put their hair up so it doesn’t come in contact with the food as it appeared to be doing. I hate giving negative comments, but I do want to be transparent in my reviews. This restaurant wasn’t awful, but my opinion is that it is average.
