Tai Pan Chinese Restaurant

I remembered coming to this restaurant years ago when my mom worked in Madison. I was unsure if it was still good. I read all the reviews and they seemed positive. So I ventured out for lunch one day and was not disappointed. Yes it's an older property but the buffet was good, fresh and lots of variety. The only thing I wish for is a small salad bar.

Really good Chinese food. When you order vegetables it's not all broccoli, but a good selection of different vegetables. The fried rice isn't greasy at all, like it is at some other places. They also use only white meat chicken, no greasy dark meat here. I highly recommend them if you haven't tried them before.

Tried this because I read a couple of good reviews. I ordered General Tso Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken to go, both with fried rice. The building is old and smells like a motel. General Tso's was fried chicken pieces and veggies floating in a too-sweet liquid, like a soup really. And the Kung Pao had been burnt. They should've re-cooked but served it anyway. The whole thing tasted like ash; you just can't get that taste out of a dish when you burn it. Fried Rice was white rice with egg and veggies. I'm so disappointed with all of it. Gonna stick with Red Fish Chinese for now...
