Harbor View Cafe

First time visiting in close to five years. Prior to my lengthy absence, I was a frequent visitor to this wonderful cafe. Harbor View consistently offers delicious dishes with a real flair for local flavors and ingredients. The restaurant has a generous outdoor patio and a comfortable, stylish interior that complements the menu and "vibe". Can't wait until my next visit!

The BLT on rye was really good. The bacon was a tad overcooked but still tasted good because the veggies were fresh and bread was good quality. The fries were mediocre. I paid extra for them so it was a little disappointing to get fries that tasted like they were cooked in old oil. Overall though, they were still decent. Most likely wouldn't even notice. It was slight but it was there. The service was good despite being fairly busy and the waitstaff looking like they were a bit overburdened. I was in and out at lunchtime in about 30 minutes.

My husband and I could have gone anywhere to have lunch today, but we decided to go to Harbor View to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. The staff is very friendly and the food was delicious. We couldn’t eat another bite so we brought dessert to eat at home later. We will go back soon. Thanks Harbor View!!! We are back to Harbor View again. My husband had a shrimp poboy and French fried and it’s an up charge of $3 and I have a Cuban sandwich and onion rings with mine and again it’s an up charge of $3 for that as well. They were great 😊. No dessert for today maybe next time! Thank you Harbor View

This is a pretty nice restaurant, just a couple blocks from the beach. The wait staff is friendly enough and the food is good enough. We've been here a few times now, always with the same results. On this trip, I had the blackened shrimp Po boy, gumbo, Gouda macaroni bites, and loaded fries. The po boy was good, not great. The shrimp wasn't really blackened... In fact you wouldn't have known it was supposed to be if you hadn't asked for it that way, and the bread was a little soft for a po boy. Other than that, it was good. The gumbo was a thin gravy, which isn't my preference, but that said this was the best thin gravy variety I've had. The Gouda bites were very good, and the fries were just fine. The prices are quite reasonable, and we'll not hesitate to visit again.

Harbor View Cafe has everything going for it: beautiful facility, beautiful view, great staff, excellent food, and an easy location off the main strip in Long Beach. I had the Cuban sammich (without pickles.) Very tasty and filling. One of the best Cuban's I've had on the Coast. Another member of our party had a Patty Melt, it was HUGE! One of the biggest Patty Melts on the Coast. And another party member had a Rueben, it was also HUGE! Outside of St Patricks Day when locations make special Ruebens, this one was a record breaker. The ONLY downsides might be discovered during their busiest hours. You might encounter a wait to get seated because it is THAT popular. And you might have issues hearing because the place is FILLED and everyone is happy and loud. But those are signs of how good it is, not anything worth complaining about. At least for me. Plain and simple: go here, you'll enjoy it!
