Golden Garden

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Lexington VA. We’ve ordered take out from Golden Garden in the past and it was very good. Yesterday, we decided to dine in to celebrate our anniversary. It was mid-afternoon and we were seated very quickly. We ordered a pot of tea and water which came quickly and were given time to look at the menu. The entrees were reasonably priced (Sweet and sour shrimp was $13). We got the vegetable dumplings as an appetizer and ordered 3 entrees. Everything was delicious, hot and freshly made. I really enjoyed the green tea. The spicy green beans were especially good. The waitress checked in with us twice to pour more tea and to see if we needed anything. The dining room was clean and well maintained. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good Chinese food in the Lexington area.

The food here has that authentic Asian flavor, I ate the Broccoli and Shrimp and added mushrooms. The mushrooms were small button mushrooms and the dish had a little hint of ginger, the shrimp was big (15-20) and about a dozen in the dish, it's enough for 2. I also had wonton soup and a pork egg roll, the broth to the soup was the best I have tasted in years the white rice that came with was superbly cook, every grain was separate not a sticky clump. Awesome 👍 If you like Chinese this is the place for you!

Value for price is not there. The food is so so. Not good but not bad. I ordered the sashimi platter for delivery and found several pieces of fish were partially frozen. Sushi that is prepared in advance and then refrigerated or frozen? I might as well buy my sushi from Kroger. I also had the happy family for delivery. Definitely not a $20 dish. Was it bad ? no, but not $20 Chinese food.
