Old 64 Diner

Very good burger. Be aware they charge a credit card fee @5%; it shows as a "customer service" fee on the bill. Fee was only revealed after we paid and waitress returned with our credit card. Tea and soda> $2.50, I think is a little high. Stated they did not have cheddar cheese but did have it last time for my burger and salad. Wait service was polite and quick, but only we and another couple were eating.

Had THE BEST hamburgerstake with fried onions and cheese I have had in a very long time. It was so tender and juicy I could cut it with my fork. Onion rings are crispy, my daughter and her friend each had burgers and loved them. Love the 50's atmosphere and music. Wait staff was very prompt and friendly and the cook got my stake just right. Southmont is so lucky to have a restaurant like that.

Is the true fifties Diner experience -- Like Mels from Ameeican Graffitie or the Frozen Palace in Grease -- it's very nice to have in a time where true diners are disappearing -- It is complete with checkerboard floor lighted juke box playing period correct music -- The staff was one of the most friendly and engaging I've have run across in quite a while -- Burgers Hot dogs and other traditional diner fare along with daily blue plate specials -- Meatloaf was today's - Burger and corn nuggets were out of this world Daddy-O -- I highly recommend this place If your down by Hogh Rock Lake --- Bring your classic car and leather jacket-- You just might see the T-Birds and Pink Ladies here -- The only think missing is James Dean El is and Marylin sitting at the bar -- Groovy

From the moment we walked in, it was like stepping back in time to a place without the internet, cellphones or flavor. If only the chef could have broken character and used the internet long enough to Google how to make a burger. He would have known not to use canned mushrooms, actually cook the onions, and to season the meat. The burger was the worst I’ve ever tasted….it was greasy and had a mushy texture with no flavor at all. It was insulting and I couldn’t finish it. The potato salad was too sweet and the grilled chicken also lacked salt and was too dry. I don’t understand the other reviews. We came here because the reviewers claimed the burgers were good and they were absolutely not. The waitresses were fun and had a lot of personality, which is more than we can say for the food. The best thing that we ordered was most likely bought frozen in a bag: crinkle cut fries. Someone please take away the chef’s can opener and teach him how to use a knife to cut mushrooms and actually make things fresh like they claim to do. I liked the vibe, the people were nice and the ranch was “fire”. All in all it’s a fun place to go, but don’t come hungry.
