Golden Fish And Chips

Good fish and chips place. 3 types of fish on the menu. Staff are friendly. I spent some time chatting with them and realised the batter is made fresh daily. Nothing additional to the fish but it comes out with a great taste. A little oily though, due to the deep frying, however, if you love fish and chips, oil comes with it. :). I will come back anytime.

Comparing this restaurant to other fish and chips establishments in the area: The quality of their food was one of the best! We ordered haddock and chips with a large coleslaw takeout. The fish had the right amount of batter and the chips were very crispy. The only complaint I have is that they only accept cash or debit. Like myself, most people like the option to pay with credit. Without this option, they could lose a lot of potential business. We may be back someday!

Been going to this location for over 20 years and never had a bad experience. The white fish and chips is almost always ready in 15 min and it's crispy and hot. The batter is what keeps us coming back week after week. People may complain about the service but you gotta understand that they hire students and oftentimes it's their first job, so cut them some slack.

For a business that’s been around for as long as they have I would have expected better quality food. I ordered the halibut family dinner for five and to say I was very disappointed is putting it mildly. There was twice the amount of batter to fish ratio and it was tough to cut through and chew The fries were stale even though they just pulled them out of the fryer which tells me that they were probably precooked and dropped back in the fryer a second time around. I also ordered a side of fried pickles, mushrooms, coleslaw and gravy. All in all I spent close to $100 and didn’t enjoy any of it. I don’t think I’ll be going back and second time.

We’ve been here before and it’s been a while since COVID, it was Good Friday (the day before). First of all there’s usually a friendly order taker on duty, this day whoever this employee was (female with glasses and purple hair in pigtails) I found was a bit snippy, abrupt and not very nice in general. Ordered the large Halibut fish & chips, with an extra piece of halibut and an extra plate for my wife and to split the order in half at our table. The batter was tasty and light, but the fish was filleted so thin (not even 1/2” inch thick). The one large piece out of the 3 was almost hallow with a small amount of fish in it. Was going to take a picture (but wife advised me to just eat it). The fries were ok, nothing really special, it tasted like they were mixed with warmed up ones and fresh ones. Needless to say we were a bit disappointed, don’t won’t to dis any business, but they we’re very busy. Hit & miss?
