Romano's Ristorante

We stopped in for an early dinner. The place was empty but we were spoken to immediately and seated. We had a terrific server (sorry, forgot her name) but she was friendly, helpful and pleasant. The appetizer and wine came out fast and delicious. We had the meatballs and Chianti, both were great. My wife had pizza which she loved and I had spicy seafood linguine. Excellent meal. Highly recommended.

My fiance and I came here for dinner for the first time last Thursday. We stood by the door for over 5 minutes waiting to be seated, even though there were plenty of empty tables. A woman told us she would be right with us and was too busy drinking something behind the bar to seat us. Finally a young man came over. Half price appetizers on Thursdays sound great, but not when you wait 40 minutes for them to come out. The spicy calamari and mussels were mediocre. Not much flavour. Another 30 minutes passed before our mains came out, but at least these had some more flavour. Even more frustrating is seeing the kitchen staff just waltzing around so slowly. Our server did not come by our table once to see how our meals were. My fiance had to flag her over to get some water! I will not be returning to this place. Clearly it is poorly managed.

Very poor service. Good food. Great service can make up for mediocre food. But even the best food can not make up for mediocre/indifferent service. We arrived a little past seven and didn't get out of the place until almost 10pm. The hostess was delightful and greeted us when we arrived. Our server took our initial order which was two beers and one calamari to start. The beer took almost 10 minutes and the calamari another 15 minutes. Then we were forgotten about for 30 minutes. Our server and the other staff member helping were scrambling from table to table not even glancing at us to let us know they will get to us to clear our plates and take our main course order. We flagged the other staff member as we had empty glasses and had still not been able to order our main course. We politely requested some attention and received a half hearted sorry. They were only willing to take our drink order. Our server finally came to our table and took our main course order. She did not apologize for the 30 minute wait. We ordered a salad to that took 20 minutes. When our mains arrived our server said the kitchen made a mistake, try it and if you don't like it we'll make you a new one. We were sharing both items so an easy solution was to deliver the one main and fix the mistake. And to add to the negative service experience, we walked past five staff members when leaving and no one said a thing, not goodnight, not thank you, nothing. There are countless choices to spend your dining dollars. It should be acknowledged and appreciated, and when it is not people will choose to spend those dollars elsewhere. A team is only as strong as their leader and it appeared said leader was absent or indifferent.
