Like My Thai

Ok I will be nice. We were passing through on business from Chicago, figured downtown restaurants should be a little more reliable, and the more highly rated Thai Eatery was not open for dining. The food here isn't terrible, but it is not Thai food. It is not even fusion Asian food, typically for a menu like this, Chinese, Thai, Korean, this place should be called the Pacific Rim, only if it actually serves fusion Asian food. My Thai ice tea tasted like it is water downed, almost no tea taste and not enough condensed milk. The Pad Thai is the most basic Thai dish, the noodle was over cooked, soggy and stuck together, the sauce is bland, missing the basic ingredient tamarind. If there was tamarind in the sauce I didn't taste any of it. Way to much peanut shavings. My colleague ordered the Thai Basil, it came out like a soup? It is a stir fry, why so much sauce? We barely ate half of the food just because we were starving and had no time. Maybe the other items on the menu are better but from the cooking style I have seen so far, I'd doubt it. The 2 stars were for the good service.

Vegan options for Thai food (just ask, seems like they can be pretty accommodating, I got the summer rolls and pad Thai), and both were very flavorful at a level 2 spicy. Very friendly service, and they put on their website when they will need to close coming up. It was plenty busy during lunch, but we were still served promptly and with excellent service. Highly recommend!

Complete waste of money. ZERO STARS. I live on the same street 4 blocks away...and the last time I ate here was 3 years ago because what I ordered last time I ate there was just...bad. Well today I I didn't feel like driving the 15 minutes to THAI EATERY(a real Thai restaurant) so I figured I'd give Like My Thai another chance. Boy...was that a mistake. Anytime I order Thai, all I ever order is Thai Red Curry. Out of the literal 2 or 300 times I've ordered Red Curry, it has been an orange or a dark orange color EVERY...SINGLE...TIME. No exceptions. Not this time though. I open up my container to see my Red Curry the same exact color as Cream of Broccoli soup. I immediately call and ask them the obvious question...why is my RED Curry the same color as drywall...and not RED? Would you believe the employee on the phone tried to convince me that their Red Curry isn't red because they don't use "additives". LMAO. Wow. If it weren't for the employee on the phone trying to deceive me I wouldnt be writing this review. But trying to gaslight a customer because you want to skimp on the curry paste or powder is just flat out unethical. I imagine most of their positive reviews come from friends or family...because this place is the pits. Photo below for reference. Look at that brilliant orange/red color shine!!! Oh and almost forgot...the chicken is low quality prisoner food. Damn shame.

The ppl working there were very nice but the food is honestly disgusting. If I hadn’t paid so much and I weren’t so hungry, I’d throw it away. But I ate what I could and threw out what was left (in picture). Which is so disappointing because it smelled so good. They also messed up my to-go order. Notably, everyone was white working there (notably the cook) and that may be the cause of the poor-tasting food. I will never order here again.

I cannot stop thinking about my dinner last night!!! Wow wow wow. I adore food and travel (complete with abundant curry while in Thailand) and I cannot think of a meal that can compete with what I had (green curry and pad thai). I am obsessed and can't wait to go back. Michael-you are talented and fun and make those woks work!! Hope you have a restful holiday weekend off. But please come back so I can get the Thai basil fried rice :)
