A neighborhood gem for Mexican food. This popular take out only Mexican food restaurant is located on Peck Road in El Monte.
The restaurant focuses on only burritos and Quesadillas and they do them well. The long line is a testimony on how good the food is.
I haven’t been here until my son told me about it. We came and got ourselves a burrito and Quesadilla. Both of them were fantastic. The handmade flour tortillas were so soft. We got ourselves some extra fresh flour tortillas to take home.
The service was very efficient. We only waited less than 10 minutes for our food. Considered all foods are made fresh, they are very fast in turning out the food.
The prices are very reasonable. Parking is either in the parking lot next to the restaurant or on the street.

Muy buenos! Reminds me of my people from Mexicali taquerias that always have handmade taco size tortillas! This is more like the little burritos de carne con papas, desebrada ,tinga y chicharrón con frijoles the ladies sell at the border crossing from Tijuana Tecate and Mexicali.
The tortilla was very good not salty at all, the salsa perfect 👍 except I like mine hotter, no eating at a table here so eat at home or your car.
Downside is @ $3.50 each it’s borderline to expensive for such a simple creation easily replicated at home if you know how to make shredded beef with spices and flour tortillas
I would still buy two to kill the craving if I’m ever around!

Great birra, Flour tortillas are hand made beans are great. Could not find anything wrong with this place. Also has a Michelin star can’t go wrong. Highly recommended

I have been going here for years and have recommended it to people. After my last trip, the price change was noticable. I do not want to accuse them of price gouging but the food is not worth the listed price anymore. Not that it was cheap before but it made sense. For reference, I paid 16 dollars and change for 3 burritos con todo which included a credit card processing fee. At 12-13 bucks it was still worth it. They are probably charging over 4 bucks now for just bean and cheese lol.

Yes. Tiny burritos with beans and cheese are a must. Takes about 3-4 to get full! They no longer serve chips or sandwiches/tortas. NO seating available, parking is limited, the inside is closed. super simple yet delicious

I saw this restaurant made it onto the Netflix show Taco Chronicles so I knew I had to give it a try. Omg. The burritos are delicious. I mean heavenly. If you’re in the area this place is a must try. I had the Tinga, deshebrada, and birria. Birria is one of my favorite foods but I gotta say the Deshebrada was amazing. Their salsa is simple but good. Will be returning every time I go to LA. Burritos deliciosos👍🏻

Found this place through the Michelin Bib Gourmand - Homemade tortilla burritos with fresh shredded beef in a red or green sauce is what you have to order. You can add beans and mozzarella to the burrito as well. Don't get the pork burrito (it's just cooked and slippery pork rinds). Very helpful and friendly staff. I wish they gave you chips with the to-go orders...

Burritos La Palma is a tough restaurant for me to review, because they are such a unique operation, and they do a few key things unexpectedly well. Rather than a deep-dive into why this Zacatecan restaurant serves slender burritos that can fit into one's palm that many people (myself included) also would consider to be tacos, I'll simply leave it at that. Also, I'll save the burrito history lesson for another review. And as much as other reviewers and food critics alike want to write about how Burritos La Palma somehow brought beef birria to Southern California, this notion is mistaken and, in fact, not even close to being accurate -- but since I don't have a better or more definitive answer, I'm avoiding that one as well.
The first burrito I tried at Burritos La Palma was their "Tinga de Pollo Burrito." The chicken tinga recipe they use here results in a juicy, mildly-spiced tinga that is dominated by pork nectar and smokiness from its chipotle chiles. It is a messy, drippy guisado that demands a strong tortilla. The hand-pressed flour tortillas used at Burritos La Palma are based on a family recipe and are indeed both stout and fantastic: substantial, moist, a little chewy, with a flavor that makes me think "biscuits" not "burritos."
The "Birria, Frijoles y Queso Burrito" makes even better use of the tortilla: they lay it on a griddle for a bit to help melt the cheese inside the burrito. The toasted surface creates a different flavor and texture on one side of the burrito, making it distinctively quirky. The feisty beef birria inside is well-spiced and decadently soft. The combination of their beef birria, refried beans, and salty, creamy queso in their half-toasted flour tortilla creates a whole that is superior to the the sum of its parts.
I would avoid ordering the "Flautas de Maiz," basically bone-dry taquitos with a small bit of shredded beef and a mild runny green sauce on it. As with many taquitos, the predominant flavor of these flautas was the deep-fried corn tortilla shell. This dish desperately needs more meat and less tortilla. I wanted to throw something when I realized the same restaurant that makes wonderful little burritos was also capable of producing something like this. Can't win 'em all I suppose.
Burritos La Palma now operates several stores across L.A. county and Orange County, but this location in El Monte is their original restaurant that opened in 2012. The ladies working here were engaging and willing to chat a bit about the food, and the shop was immaculately clean. I was impressed by their complimentary chips and salsa, which were outlandishly good. Upon completion of my visit here, I found that the hype and praise this operation receives is legitimate, and next time I'll solely stick to the burritos, which is what I advise you to do as well.
