One of my favourite spots! The sandwiches are delicious, with great bread and fresh-tasting ingredients. Pastries are delicious too, but the sandwiches are out of this world!

Lovely authentic French bread and pastries. Prices are not cheap but worth it for high quality artisan bread. There is plenty of choice and everything is made daily. Staff is extremely friendly and service is quick. Have I had better bread or croissants, sure. Are the ones from La Barantine great, absolutely.

My favourite bakery in Edinburgh. All of the food I have tried is delicious and well worth the price. They have a wide selection of pastries, bread, sandwiches, etc., and frequently add new items. Staff are very friendly.

Authentic French bread, pastries and cakes. In this specific location little space to sit and relax, but you can grab your coffee and pastry and walk across the street to enjoy them strolling along the Bruntsfield Links. Amazing pain aux raisin, pretty meringue. I did not try the French Gallette des Rois, but they were so pretty…

There’s no space to sit in here, but you can take away everything that is available at the other La Barantine outlets in the city. The breakfast pastries are good. I’ve tried the Lorraine and the Vegetable quiches, they were both okay but had an overriding taste of goat cheese that wasn’t particularly pleasant. The cakes look better than they taste, but are still nice.
