I had the pleasure of visiting this lovely gem of a place two Saturdays ago. I too did my best to make a reservation, but was told that they didn't take them anymore. Little did I know that they were going to go through quite a renovation. My father and I arrived to Edinburgh just in time. Well...actually the tables were already taken so... perhaps a bit too late? Nonetheless, the owner was very helpful and after hearing that we came from quite far away (Argentina) and that it was our last day in Edinburgh he was kind enough to set us a table at the back, amidst the antiques. Everything was perfect. The staff, the atmosphere, even their recommendations (AKA violet jam and Darjeeling blend) and the TEA! BEST.TEA.EVER. We were told that we were the last two customers before its transformation, it simply was the most magical experience. Again we wish you both the best of luck and hope to return soon!

This was such a sweet place to visit - the setting is a room filled with antiques and about 2 or 3 tables for customers. Huge selection of teas - one pot between two is plenty! The scones are delicious, strawberry jam amazing, but make sure you try the violet jam too!

We were searching for traditional afternoon tea in Edinburgh on the Web and saw Anteaques in the top 10 list so decided to try it. Booked by phone as they dont have many tables. Very quirky teashop/antiques shop in one. TEA is what its all about, waitress was friendly and we followed her tea recommendations ("Burnt Malawian" was one of them :-) ). Scones and jam very good. Overall worth a visit if you want something different/to remember. Very good value.

I got a very welcoming gratitude from the owner. Although I usually brew and drink the chinese pure teas, this place offered me a very soothing flavoured tea (Hazelnut Black), that I'm going to ship the whole bunch back to Korea.

Anteaques is always a lovely place to go to for tea, whether it's with friends, family, or on a date. The scones are really nice and I particularly recommend the violet jam! The tarts available on the weekend are also to die for, especially the chocolate and raspberry one. I also love the beautiful antique china and silverware and the incredible selection of tea means you can have something different every time. A wonderful treat :)

Best tea place hands down. Great atmosphere, quality tea, tasty scones, fantastic service, exclusive location. Recommended for dates or casual tea with a friend or two. Not suitable for big groups (> 4), being noisy or if looking for anything other than tea/scones/wee chocolates. Check out if open before venturing towards it and preferably book if you really want to find a table. Enjoy!

If you love tea you will love Anteaques! A quirky little teashop where you sit among the antiques and enjoy pots of their delicious tea - there are about 100 to choose from! We enjoyed trying their Christmas teas, and accompanied these with a lovely homemade scone and violet jam. You can buy the tea and jam to take home as well. I would recommend paying Anteaques a visit, though booking is necessary as it is only open a few days a week and very popular!

Is it an Antiques shop? Is it a tea shop? I don't know which half is more dominant, but I do know I love it. Homemade scones and beautiful floral jams, delicious artisan chocolates, and pots of tea... What isn't to like? They don't do a big variety (tea excepted- they do everything) but what they do offer is fantastic and clearly very well thought out, right down to the class saucer for the tea leaves. Book in advance!

This place is very unique. It's like stepping back in time. Though it's wise to book a table if you fancy a cup of tea and a scone, as it's small. The waiters are amazing and very friendly. We sat surrounded by antiques and vintage clothes. We had delicious scones and tea (from the vast menu of loose teas). It was very reasonable considering how quirky the whole experience was.
