Mamma Roma

I dined at this restaurant today. According to several online ranking reviews, this Italian restaurant is renowned for its sophistication. It boasts a location in a prime area and even features a few handsome waiters. I was pleasantly surprised to find Rocchetta naturale and fizzante water available, which is somewhat uncommon in Italian restaurants in Edinburgh, implying a level of authenticity. For starters, we ordered calamari, meatballs, and soup, all of which were remarkably delicious. One small suggestion would be to toast the bread served with the soup, as the toasted bread accompanying the meatballs was notably superior to the untoasted version accompanying the soup. For the main course, we indulged in the seafood platter and pasta, both of which were impeccably prepared and thoroughly enjoyable. The tiramisu dessert was a delightful conclusion to the meal, elegantly presented in a visible glass. What I particularly appreciated was that the service charge was discretionary and not automatically added to the bill. This gave me the opportunity to express my gratitude by offering a service charge as the staff members were notably courteous and professional.

Mamma Roma is without a doubt the best Italian restaurant in Edinburgh. I went there twice (definitely book in advance to be safe!) and was BLOWN AWAY by the family-style service and absolutely sensational food. I had the best ravioli of my life here and couldn't stop telling everyone about it, alongside the incredible service too. Can't recommend enough!

We visited Mamma Roma whilst on a weekend in Edinburgh the restaurant seemed very popular so i recommend you book ahead as we saw them having to turn people away . The food was delicious the staff lovely chatty and very friendly . Great atmosphere It was close to our hotel it was a win win win for us

We had a lovely date night here. It was quite busy and we did book. We sat in the main restaurant area. The food was delicious. We had calamari and focaccia to start. Probably the best calamari I have had in Edinburgh so far. I had a spinach and ricotta cannelloni which was very tasty. The staff were also very friendly (and funny) it was a lovely evening.

Had a lovely meal here with my partner. We booked in advance (necessary as it’s a busy place!) and were seated as soon as we arrived. Service was friendly and waiters were good fun! Food arrived quickly - we had starters of calamari and the basic focaccia which were both yummy. I then ordered one of the chef’s special pastas which was incredible. They let us take away our leftovers too. Would definitely recommend this place!

We had a ton of luck getting a table without a reservation. The waiter made it possible for us. After we spent 6 days in Edinburgh it was our last dinner here and we are happy we ate it here. The pasta was delicious, the service was great and funny and the dessert was fantastic. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We were a little worried because we ordered calamari that was WAY over cooked and had bland breading as an appetizer but the main meals were really good! Meatballs were a bit tough but the bolognese and the mushroom/smoked salmon sauce were terrific. It is not authentic Italian food, it’s a bit kitschy and definitely geared towards North Americans. The servers were friendly and the food came out quickly. Would go again.
