A Tavola

A Tavola has some really killer Italian food and an atmosphere that feels very authentic. The pizza here is absolutely the highlight of their menu. I had a sausage and sage pizza that was absolutely incredible, and my friends got a fig and prosciutto pizza with arugula that was also very tasty. They also have a great selection of cocktails which includes an amazing old fashioned.

The food was fantastic. The restaurant was...odd. The restaurant music was particularly loud and our waitress had trouble hearing our order. She informed us that the food would come out as it was ready. The one salad came out (the server misnamed the salad as he put it down and hurried away). The other salad arrived a minute later, but the server said this was his first day and had no idea what salad it was. As soon as we started to eat the salad, our entrees arrived. As I initially stated - the food was excellent. The salads - fresh, crisp, & seasoned. The entrees made with home made pasta with delicious sauce.

We really enjoyed our visit to A Tavola Bar + Trattoria. The restaurant was cozy and a little crowded but we enjoyed immediate seating for our party of 7. The prices are very reasonable but the wait staff will recommend one pizza and one appetizer for every two people. So plan on spending around $30 to $45 depending on drinks for two. The beer selection is mostly bottles but there are eight beers on tap I enjoyed the October Fest which was tasty but mild in terms of IBU and ABV. I liked the cauliflower lightly coated with a vinaigrette dressing but I prefer a slightly crunchier cooked vegetable. My friend loved the stuffed dates wrapped in bacon and then stuffed with sausage. We tried three of the pizzas; margarita, sweet pea and bacon, and artichoke. They were all very good. I love the soft crust. The artichoke pizza was delicious and not overwhelmed by the pesto (as is so common). We all really liked the hot olives on the antipasto plate and the accompanying sauces. The flavor of the peas was completely lost in the cheese and bacon in the Sweet Pea Pizza. My daughter loved the margarita pizza and didn't give me a chance to taste it. The restroom needed a little attention but it was the lunch hour. My wife enjoyed the Tuna Salad but it contained perhaps more tuna than was necessary and there was quite a bit left over. Overall, we like this place and while there are a lot of options on Vine Street we are very likely to come again.
