Given 5 stars for the food and value for money.
We've been here a few times now and really like it. It's a bit quirky and has a canteen feel to it... Basic furniture etc. And the 'artwork' on the wall is.... A little 'thrown together'
Each time we've been there seems to be lots of people speaking Cantonese to the waiter, and the menu is transkated for this which we take as a good sign.
Its also well located among the colleges and near one of the two main punting rental locations.

Had a lunch with my wife there while we were touring Cambridge today. Authentic Chinese food, good service, very reasonable price. Considering it is in such a busy touristy area, the quality of food and its price are very pleasant surprise to us.

The Yuxiang Aubergine has to be the best aubergine I have ever had in my life. I have had this dish multiple times from Chinese Canteen to ensure that it wasn’t a fluke and it has never disappointed. The restaurant deserves 5 stars for that dish alone

I was here for a couple of hours during my Cambridge trip and oh my god!! the food was so amazing.
We had special fried rice and beef noodles but the rice was so good we ate it All up before we remembered to take pictures 😂😂.
will definitely be back, great service and food 👌

Came across Chinese Canteen whilst visiting Cambridge and was enticed by the amazing smells. The dine in area is very clean, servers were super friendly and the food was amazing! It was really great quality. Portions are big but staff very kindly boxed up our leftovers for us. Would definitely visit again!

One place I really recommend if you're visiting Cambridge. Clean, delicious food, big portions, reasonably priced ( I would say cheaper than any other places in the area). We would definitely go back for more. Try Beef dish 😋 👌 👏 😍

This is by far the best Chinese restaurant in the city. The food is genuinely traditional Chinese and they put so much effort into making The dishes taste, look and smell so good. The dishes are larger so they can be shared in a truly traditional Chinese manner which is very sociable and indeed economical. For me to award 5 stars to a restaurant is extremely rare and as such I recommend you go to this restaurant and try some of their dishes, in particular their excellent specials. You will be very pleasantly surprised by the food they offer, in comparison with any bog standard Chinese takeaway, Where the food has been tailored to English palates. Surely it is better to eat traditional and authentic Chinese food that the Chinese people would eat themselves?! ...This is the place

Really yummy! Really authentic. Super friendly staff and decent pricing. Definitely my go to restaurant in Cambridge! Definitely recommend the lamb hand made noodles 😍🤤

Reasonable, quick, and tasteful enough. I enjoyed both having a meal alone and with friends so casually. The website indicates 10% discount for a Cambridge student.
