Such a nice coffee shop to meet up with a friend, have a casual brunch date or do some work. They have a great variety of food options from avocado toast to brisket hash to breakfast burritos. Coffee was yummy and high quality. There's a parking lot behind the shop as well as plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Overall a great place, looking forward to visiting more often.

My #1 favorite, best freaking coffee shop in all of CA. I can't recommend this place enough. Try the Chai, Texas Tacos, Avocado Toast, Brisket Burrito, EVERYTHING! The vibe here, the baristas, the food, the coffee, the tea, it is all unbeatable. I love the Gendale location where there is a little downtown area to walk around with fun outside seating. 11/10 spot. I wish I still lived close enough to go every Sunday like we used to!

Today I experienced truly appalling customer service and bad attitude form the staff here.. I've never felt that uncomfortable and disrespected by a barista and cash machine guy before.The attitude and condescension was on another level from the bleached-haired young gentleman, who clearly has a vendetta against the world for one reason or another. I was genuinely disappointed and embarrassed for Commissary, who's other locations are great and have always had good customer service. To top it off the long dark-haired gentleman actually running the espresso machine was in a world of his own (where apparently no body else time matters).. the coffee was fine and crafted to a reasonable standard but the amount of time he wastes and unnecessary extra effort he puts in to peacock his whole performance (all while uncomfortably and disrespectfully eye-balling any women who walks thru the door as if he were still living in 2005 and #MeToo never happened) is shameful... I don't understand how these musician douchebags, who clearly think they are above it all, and tend to talk non-stop about their upcoming tours and all the great work they do as "session players" (which I guess doesn't pay very well given that they are manning coffee machines for sh!t-fifty-five an hour on a Sunday morning 🤷‍♂️) are even able to maintain these jobs.. How do employers not see right through their arrogance and how detrimental it is to pleasing their customer base.. If I owned a cafe like this I would be disgusted to see this kind of behavior exhibited behind my back. This attitude can't be tolerated when there are literally hundreds of other great places to get your coffee made with a smile (in well under 15 minutes)..
