Maud Foster Mill, located in the charming town of Boston, Lincolnshire, is a remarkable testament to the area's milling heritage. This fully operational, five-sailed windmill offers visitors a captivating journey back in time, showcasing the beauty and ingenuity of traditional windmill craftsmanship. Maud Foster Mill also houses a charming tearoom, where visitors can indulge in delicious homemade treats and enjoy a well-deserved break. The tearoom's cozy atmosphere and friendly service complemented the overall experience, providing a delightful spot to relax and soak in the mill's ambiance. It's worth noting that the mill's operational schedule may vary, as it is dependent on wind conditions. However, even if the sails are not turning, the knowledgeable volunteers are always available to provide informative tours and share the mill's history, ensuring an enriching experience regardless of the wind conditions. Parking: roadside parking Toilets: on-site

Great example of eco friendly engineering. I wish windmills could be built today. Let's hope we will see Maud Foster Windmill turning again soon. It would be lovely to see and hear the mill stones turned by wind. You need a head for hieghts, but well worth the climb to the top. I'll enjoy my breakfast oats I bought, knowing they came from the mill. A trip back in time to see and understand how old-fashioned engineering worked.

One of the the finest and tallest windmills in the British Isles. Offers nice little shop on site and no under 18’s allowed inside the mill. Opening times: Wednesdays and Saturdays 10am-5pm

Our family enjoyed our tour of the mill and learned lots along the way. They were very understanding that the youngest two in our party didn't want to climb up any higher. Our daughter seemed more interested in drawing smiley faces in the flour on the floor but we had cycled a fair way so she was tired. I'd definitely recommend taking a tour but certainly not for young children, better for teens and older. Thank you for an interesting visit.

Fantastic to visit a real working windmill! Alas, no wind today, so we didn’t get to see it in action. Nevertheless, I learned so much. Fascinating to see a piece of historical engineering in good working order and have it all explained. Would definitely visit again if I’m around, preferably when it’s a little windy 😳. (fyi the stairs are more like ladders)

I had the very good luck to have a guided tour by chance yesterday, which was a wonderful experience. The owner painstakingly took me through all the family history and made sure I understood the workings of the mill, which was grinding grain as he spoke. I walked around the balconies and he explained the workings of the sails which were actually canvas bound and need maintenance on them every 5 years. I then bought some scone baking flour in which I shall be using very soon. I was just sorry I arrived camera less. I will end by saying that the owner could not have done more for us, a piece of history, described in great detail for me. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness, Margriet Askew.
