Captain Cod Traditional Fish And Chip Restaurant

Popped in as we were passing - what a lucky move! The staff were attentive from the moment we entered. The cafe was clean and there were several copies of the menu on each table. There appeared to be lots of vegan options but I was here for sausage and chips. It was delicious. The chips were crispy and lightly browned, very appetising. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Chips are my favourite take out meal but not my husband's, however he said he enjoyed his meal too - chips and mushy peas. We were the last people in the shop, near closing but the owner was lovely, telling us we could sit after we had finished and there was no need to rush. He chatted with us and is obviously a customer friendly person. It's a pity we live so far away because this could definitely be my regular!

i can only talk about how the food tasted, as our daughter collected them. fish was very nice and white, large piece not greasy, chips were new tates, yum yum yum, mushy peas good, not the metallic taste you get at other places. curry sauce good not over thick. best thing i will mention is there was no oily after taste like elsewhere. would i have from there again, too right i will. daughter just said the service was quick as she timed it right 4pm.

There was a haddock and cod option to choose from, with chips, and I asked for the difference between them and the chap serving happily pointed out the differences and therefore I went for Haddock 🐟. When I ate it all up, I was full and satisfied! It tasted fresh and just delicious. And of course the outside eating area is an added bonus!
