Definitely an interesting meal and one to remember but the food was not up to caliber for the price. My wife was disappointed. We have been to many expensive meals and the food here was not impressive. Maybe an off night - but still. The head chef was present and interactive, and it was a special experience none-the-less. Not many Americans go here.

What a unique restaurant! The art, music and lights dancing across the dining tables that coordinated with courses served. An intro and tour of the Kitchen with 3 small amouse Bouche bites was a happy start! 'Ephemeral pizza' was not something I'll forget. Our 15 courses with Catalan wine (and one beer) pairing was phenomenal. Chef Jaime personally introduced dishes to all guests, every course. Som introed wines and beer. Jambu flower tasting was eye-opening. Service was perfection and the evening flows so perfectly. Beautiful bathrooms and immaculate kitchen. Next time we're in Barca we will undoubtedly be back to dine.

My sister and I had a one of a kind dinner at Spoonik making it one of our favorite dining experiences.
From its humble exterior, Spoonik seems like an unassuming restaurant with nothing special to offer. However, the moment you step in, you are immediately transported into a colorful and bright interior with furnishings that match the uniqueness of the restaurant's name.
A typical dining service requires guests to sit in a shared table seating that replicates the family style eating. However, my sister and I were fortunate enough to be the only guests signed up for that serving so we were able to have a special one-on-one dining experience with Chef Jamie. He was more than personable and explained the dishes with such passion that you could not help but fall in love with the food.
Chef Jamie also made notes on making dining a sensorial experience. There are definite exciting bits throughout the meal that are surprising and fun unlike any other restaurant. Plus, not only was all the food good, but also very filling! Sometimes you can leave the restaurant feeling like you paid a lot for fancy food but something was not quite there. It helps that there are food items that are meant to mimic typical Spanish comfort foods that really feeds into the soul. We also did the wine pairing which may have also helped!
When making a reservation, you do have to put in a deposit. At the end of the meal, you pay the balance and/or for the wine pairing. Friendly reminder to show up on time, but if you show up too early, they will not seat you! This is mainly because they take extra precautions to prepare for the guests because once you are inside, you feel like you are part of the family. Spoonik is located not too far from a bus stop or train station.
Overall, Spoonik transports you to another world that makes it a must visit if you are in Barcelona!

Very unique dining experience. Seating is family style shared table. We didn't expect this and asked for a different table separated from the other groups and the chef accommodated this for us.
We were welcomed by a glass of champagne, followed by a few appetizers served in the kitchen where all the food was prepared, and then we went back to our table to enjoy the rest of meal. Along the way we were accompanied by music and lights that kept changing as the courses proceed, which was interesting. There were a few courses that we really liked and a few that were mediocre, but overall I think it's a good experience that differs from other fine dinings we've had here. 3.5 stars.

We visited Spoonik with a group of friends, and it was a fantastic experience from the get go! Jon, Jaime and the team were warm, welcoming and fun which set the foundations of a fab evening. The food was delicious, exciting and presented beautifully and the wine pairings worked wonderfully (was nice they had a range of wine tasting/pairing options too). Would definitely recommend for a fun evening and interesting experience!!

This was a horrible assault on all my senses. The seating here is family style tables under the most unforgiving fluorescent light reminiscent of an elementary school cafeteria. They bring the group in together and give you a glass of cava while you wait to be seated, which is literally the only pleasant thing that happened last night.
First they take you into the kitchen which smelled like dirty mildew rags. I know that's often what restaurant kitchens smell like, but not in fine dining. And if you are going to feed your customers in the kitchen, have it smell nice. As there is hardly any actual cooking going on during the evening it should not be that difficult to have a clean kitchen.
They give everyone a 1 bite "pizza" that has the texture of a thick disk of chalk sprinkled with pizza flavored dust that you might find on crisps at 7-11. This was not only not enjoyable, it was downright offensive. Everyone was polite but I was not the only person to slug back the rest of the glass of cava to try to remove the horrible coating of powder in my mouth that remained. I woke up this morning thinking about the sensation which was borderline traumatizing. It would be impossible to imagine that the meal could go downhill from there, and that was certainly the worst "dish", but there was no redemption to come.
As if the attempt at molecular gastronomy weren't bad enough, The staff is clueless about service. We did a wine pairing but my glass remained empty for about 15 minutes as we waited for the 2nd round of prandial horror. I asked 2 different waiters two times each for another glass of cava while we waited for the wine pairing and they couldn't seem to wrap their head around the request. I actually needed it to rid my mouth of the taste of the first appetizers but nothing came. The wines in the pairing were perfectly fine. Uneventful.
They have you eat a tiny "electric" flower bud as a palate cleanser. This is not an enjoyable experience- it burns your mouth and if anything numbs your tastebuds. Perhaps they were trying to do us a favor.
We were served a small dish with some corn and other flavors. Everyone at the table ate for a few minutes before the waiter came back to inform us that it's soup and they hadn't yet poured the soup. The older man next to me had already eaten the whole dish and they offered to bring him a new one so he could eat it properly with the soup. He declined, as anxious to escape the "meal" as we were. I asked why they didn't tell us to wait to begin until the dish was complete and the waiter basically said oops.
I'll spare you the details of the other "courses" which make me yearn longingly for the good old days of WD-50. However by halfway through, not one thing I had put in my mouth had been tolerable let alone delicious, and our group discussed leaving at that stage and in hindsight we wish we had. I no longer trusted them and cautiously sampled the remaining courses. The waiters were persistent with my friend when she did not touch her dishes toward the end, embarrassing her in front of the table until finally she said that it is not good. We asked for the check before dessert and left with nausea and a $600 dollar bill. I wouldn't put their food in my mouth again if they paid me 10 times that amount.
Clearly the only thing they are doing right is marketing as 2 people recommended this to us. So thumbs up to you although I now see all your negative reviews and that you respond to them extremely unprofessionally. That comes as no surprise! Traveler beware, avoid this place at all costs.

It is always nice to see a restaurant that doesn't take themselves too seriously. From the eclectic and funky decor to the creative use of mirrors and dentures for plating, Spoonik manages to strike a great balance of high end and playful.
The decor is kinda nightclub meets your living room, with book shelves, colorful statues, a bit of Aztec art, dayglow, and flashing lights for effect during the meal - it's an assault on your senses. Seating is family style, which can make for some great conversations with neighbors. When you arrive, they take each table on a tour through the kitchen, introducing the staff and doling out a couple of small bites to start off the meal.
The menu isn't really up for debate. Everyone is served the same items. We actually never saw one, and may never remember exactly what we had, although the staff does explain the dishes once they are served. Compared to other similar gastro-style restaurants, the pricing is very reasonable, as is the additional wine pairing option. One of my biggest complaints is probably with the wine pairing though. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the local options served, they were brought out haphazardly and not exactly one to one with each course. As a result, we were never really sure which wine went with which dish, nor if we should try to save more for the next plate. Simple to remedy, but I think would improve the overall experience.
As for the food, it was bright, colorful, and they definitely implemented some unique techniques. The items overall were a bit hit or miss for me, with some having more show and less flavor than I would prefer. Again, I didn't have a menu, so working solely on memory...My favorite was an assortment of shelled seafood (oysters, clams, etc.) served with different preparations. They were fresh and each one had a great flavor. There also seemed to be a couple of dishes inspired by Central and South America, like a mini arepa. Being from Miami these were more familiar, and I tended to prefer the items that were more authentic to Spain, like a traditional Catalan soup with shell-shaped noodles and meatballs, which a fellow diner told us is typically served around the holidays. Also, one of the dessert courses was a chocolate item dusted with edible gold pop rocks that was a lot of fun.
Throughout the entire meal, the passion of the staff was evident (sometimes erring on the side of overzealous), and the chefs clearly paid a lot of attention to detail. Definitely a different from your average Fideuà restaurant or tapas bar for those looking to try something new.

Absolutely amazing. From the food flavours to the presentation of dishes to the service and to the ambiance, this is a dining experience that is worthy of a Michelin star (probably two of them). Having dined at numerous Michelin restaurants, I can confidently say that Spoonik is among the best of this already impressive group.
The night starts out with a warm welcome and a brief but fun tour of the kitchen - with three small amazing bites of food to introduce you to Spoonik.
The chefs are able to create different dances on your taste buds by using ingredients that would otherwise be considered basic - for example, corn is utilized in several inventive and delicious ways. Of particular note were the cactus, mango and apple ceviche and the lobster with corn essence.
The group seating was very fun. Always great to swap thoughts on the dishes and the unique setting with fellow foodies from all areas of Europe and beyond. The service was fantastic. We were served by various staff throughout the evening and all were charismatic and able to speak articulately and passionately about the food and drink. Of particular note were the explanations and colour provided by the chefs, who infused their personal background and culture into the narrative and food story throughout the evening.
Don't miss out on the most amazing Barcelona dining experience.

My fiancé and I just returned from an INCREDIBLE experience (meal would be an understatement) at SPOONIK. The food was artfully prepared and beautifully presented over more courses then we could count, along with a choice of Spanish or French wine pairings. Given that we are in Spain, we went for that pairing and were not disappointed. SPOONIK's detail oriented and professional staff provide a sensory experience unlike any ordinary "meal" imaginable. Fantastic food and excellent conversation at the shared tables provided a culinary experience beyond our expectations. Again, this is a sensory experience which I cannot explain in words. Do NOT miss out, make your way to this fantastic Barcelona gastronomic institution. There is no way you will regret it!

To say the food is incredible would be to undersell the rest of the amazing experience at spoonik, where chefs Jamie and Jon aim to engage the senses and the mind as much as the palate, leading to something truly special- Experiential dining at its best! Would revisit barcelona just to see where their creativity takes them next season!

This meal was the highlight of my trip. As a self proclaimed foodie who has eaten at numerous Michelin starred restaurants, when I say this is probably one of the best meals of my life, I hope it is understood that this is saying a lot. Among the must do's in Barcelona
1. See La Sagrada Familia
2. Eat at Spoonik
3. Walk around Barrio Gotic
This is not just a meal... It's a culinary adventure. Just go. Thank me later.

What an amazing experience...expect to stay there around 2 to 3 hours...each meal better than the next. I don't want to say too much to kill the experience but just try it! It is on the pricier side but don't let that scare you off, it is well worth it

If you have one night in Barcelona this is the place to choose. We were a group of seven visiting from the U.S. This is hands down one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. It is an interactive multi-sensory dining experience that words cannot do justice. Every course is phenomenal and definitely spring for the Grand Cru pairing. You will not regret!

A Spoonik Club no se va a comer o a cenar, se va vivir una experiencia que, como consecuencia se come.
Unión de innovación, creatividad, arte, cultura, historia, tradición familiar.. Y se come bien rico.
