Donatos Pizza

Probably one of my favorite pizzas as far as chains go. I've never had an issue with burning, toppings not right, or anything. It's been nothing but consistent from Columbus, down to ashland from when I was a kid to now. Consistency is key in my opinion. Their pizza is thin crust, but not how you think of a crispy, crunchy thin crust like other places. Has a crisp thin outside edge, but a softer dough for the pizza...not too doughy but not crispy either. Perfect.

My fiancé and I had never tried donatos before, so we decided to last night. The website told us it would be about 30 minutes for delivery, but they got it to us in about 10 minutes, so we were very happily surprised! Until we opened our food. I had ordered just a plain cheese pizza, my fiancé a chicken bacon ranch sub. My pizza was obviously burnt, but I decided to look past it, chalking it up to the “crispy” factor. I only ended up eating maybe 3 pieces. It was pretty burnt, the sauce tasted off, and it just was very underwhelming. The only redeeming factor was the garlic sauce I had ordered, which was delicious, but zanzis has the same one (and better pizza). My fiancé tried a slice and liked it a bit more than I did, but not enough to eat more than a slice. His sub was nothing special either. He said it seemed very bland and needed more flavor. So overall, I’m giving a 3 star rating because maybe we’re just picky? Based on the ratings, people seem to love the food. But our experience wasn’t the greatest, aside from the fast delivery. A bit overpriced for the quality in our opinion, but it wasn’t the worst we’ve had. Definitely not something I would go out of my way to eat again.

Donatos has one of our favorite pizzas and we unfortunately can't get it at home this location has been very friendly and efficient when we have visited. We've driven 3 hours just to get a Donatos pizza before. I just wish their dining room had been open this time eating a pizza in the car is a little difficult lol still giving them 5 stars because they can't help that covid regulations have their dining area closed and I don't feel like its fair to hold that against them.
